Speaking from a marketing point of view, the important words should be large and stand out. With these being awards people will want to proudly display, perhaps enlarging the name of the user and their award would increase that effect.

Imo small text is better.

Decided I'd give it another shot when I actually have time and actually make animated one (don't think any SGW awards were animated so far).. So here it is.

Lol the whole point of the sig is in the animation, yet you say unnecessary. And I have yet to see you create such a "bad" animation

Then you cannot be the judge of, nor can you objectively say, which animation is good and which is bad if you hadn't even made one and if you don't like any of them.

The animation doesn't really add anything of importance to the sig though, does it? It just seems like a waste of time, sig space and bandwidth

It is as important in that specific sig, as the person in your specific sig is, to the sig itself

It is an animated Stargate...if I won an award, I'd want this one!

I have made animated sigs in the past thanks.
I can objectively say it because I have made many sigs and then decided to animate some of them. The end result is a large file and generally ruined.

you make 30 of these and dot them around the forum and people with slow internet will suddenly have to turn off sigs, for the sake of their internet aswell as eyes.

also, you act as if you speak objectively defending your work as if i touched a nerve, yet you made the sig and are more biased than anyone else

Like Apophis said, the point of the sig is animated stargate, thus why would it be unnecessary? That's what I'm saying you are wrong. I couldn't care less whether or not it pleases you
Large file, could be. Generally ruined? Yeah, if you can't make it right.

Anyway this is not the time nor the place to be discussing this. Most of the people prefer animated sigs, if you disagree with them, well your call.

I also never said whether or not I think it is a good sig, because as you say I am not the one to speak objectively on the quality of that thing, I merely said the point of the sig was in animation and thus the animation cannot be unnecessary. It is as necessary in this sig as the front renders of people/beasts, whatever, are in non-animated sigs.
