I would like to add the points that a slip space jump can take many months, including the fast jumps, as stated on the halo wiki site. Furthermore, despite their one world, only the tauri are privy to the location of the asgard homeworld, whilst on the other hand, the covenant hold little secrecy as to the locations of their worlds.

On top of that still. The asgard have beaming technology, a matter not countered within the confines of your debate. This could serve for many uses.

But im just throwing them into speculation as I have a spare minute..

Covenant jump drives are significantly more accurate and efficient than those of the unsc, they jumped from Earth to Delta halo within a matter of hours, and beams can't penetrate shields.

also, stargate ships, with the exception of the Ori and the Ancients, seem to have to battle in fairly close quarters. Heavy tonnage capital ships within the covenant armanda can fire a beam of plasma witha range of 100,000 kilometers that can obliterte unshielded ships of almost any size.

Id imagine this weapon would be inaccurate unless the target is huge and stationary. At such a range even a fraction of a degree would cause a huge miss. A moving ship in space would be impossible to hit at those distances.

Your reply is going to be creative I can tell :)

Pillar of Autumn destroyed a super cruiser equiped with 5 such weapons and was pulling evasive manuvers. It was hit at 4 times almost destroying the ship(PoA's designs allows ship to function as long as bridge, engines, and power core survive.) Larger Ships such as the Assualt carrier can fire the beam a minimum of three times before it needs to recharge, so even if the first few missed. Multiple others could make contact.

They penetrate tauri vessels. and when shields are down they can penetrate all but the wraith and ori.

(sorry i thought u meant their beam weaponry, rather then transporting tech.)

Tauri ships have to lower shields to allow beaming into ships. they can beam things aboard. but for thor to beam and whatnot sheilds have to be done.

At what distance were these vessels being shot at? If its 100k the author of whoever wrote that should be shot.

anyway, I like the comebacks

pm me when you want some marking done

the ships sat outside the range of the orbital defense cannon's range and sniped the orbital cannon's and defense fleet. At one point it cut a large carrier in half. It was also about 2 miles long so the power it exerted to fire those beams could allow it to reach 100k ish, and feel free to mark it up now.

but in atlantis the beam weapons on wrath ships
- they have shields but then put jammers and altered the shields

- would this not also happen in a battle with the covenant.
