The Cave example is Plato. Blooper Richard Dawkins is one of my role-models :wink: I said that the book was a too basic because it was written for the common person. Philosophy is one of my hobbies so most of the book was old hat for me. I have almost read all of Dawkins' books and think that he is the best biologist of modern times. As Semper said Lord Bertrand would be a better pick for something with a atheistic/agnostic slant.

Semper I am working on a farm now, and almost have no time on the computer which is why I have not posted very much lately. I start college soon so I should have more time then.

LOL...THANK YOU!!! Plato....I must get round to reading Plato's Republic sometime..But atm I am reading some good old David Hume..well..im going to read it tonight and tomorrow..

I shoudl of known it was plato..I seem to remember arrogance with him..hence his cave drawing analagy..pointing out the difference between philosophers and non-philosophers..and ive lost my original train of thought...ah yes! The Three Greatest minds of mine were Philosophers..Possibly there are Greater minds then those who can think critically and make publically accepted opinions from such..scientists etc..I think i might have been being Platoish..lol

Philosophy isn't my forte...never had the option to take it at college. I was going to take classics but archaeology and ancient sciences didnt appeal to me...even the chance (Teacher would choose what topics we would do so might not have done A-H) of doing ancient history wasnt worth the boredom of the former two.

:shock: I think I will be leaving this topic now...yes I be one of those common persons :P Shaun has tried discussing philosophical things with me...but as i know absolutely sweet FA about any of it, everything sort of flies over my head. I do not believe in god. People who do have a few screws lose. It would be great to have an afterlife etc, but I think it is just human beings, afraid of not existing anymore once they die. Geeze, just let go! lol

Im interested as hell at how the universe was made, but if you say yea...God did it...well what made god? LOL sorry there are alot of things you could say...more things I could put down also...but I will just end up comfusing myself :lol:

Sorry about being a bit snappish earlier come_Forth...ive had quite a bit on my plate recently. :(

Oh it is fine, I should have phrased my post differently. Dawkins has a good book, but not as good as others out there. Philosophy is fun, but it is not the most practical subject.
