truth of the matter is you Goa'uld are scavengers, they only Goa'uld to invent new technology was Anubis, and technically speaking, he wasn't really a Goa'uld, but stuck between the physical and metaphysical planes of existence. if Goa'uld's never feared the Asgard, why is it that only a half ascended one dared to defy them?

The Goa'uld are described as scavengers, at least where technology is concerned. They have, however, adapted much of what they have stolen for their own purposes. Nevertheless, the technology used by the Goa'uld is, on the whole, far more advanced than anything humans have, (without asgard/ancient help) and includes:
Faster than light travel
Teleportation
Sarcophagi which can bring people back from the dead and extend the lifespan indefinitely
Energy-based weapons with small, light power sources

The Goauld did fight the asgard, many years of battles took place. (This was never highlight in the SG, but on further in depth reading of the history of the goauld and asgard it is shown they battled)
However, the Goauld species was still in its infancy. The Asgard had been around longer then the Goauld and where talking to ancients/Nox/Furlings long before the goauld showed up.

Much of asgard technology was developed from the ancients, as seen as the wraith use "similar" asgard beaming tech on darts which they developed from the ancients
The Goauld after seeing that they could not dominate the asgard, developed an approach to attack weaker species and get the asgard to form a PPT. When Ra found Earth, they need not asgard, as they had a bountaful new race to enslave and be worshipped as gods.

So, give the Goauld credit, they modified there behaviour to adapt.

In the end, Baal modified his behaviour using human type of stealth/war approaches, and I personally think, had he not be captured and the Jaffa had not turned, then I think the humans would of been in serious trouble.

And to add, the one weakness that the goauld did have, was they never shared technology with there Jaffa. If they gave the Jaffa energy shields then maybe the outcome would of been much differernt.

there's one thing you seem to have forgotten ... this is not the SG series
