I could really use some sci-fi recommendations with moderately happy storylines...

It would be nice if they didn't start /end with Armmegaddon or its aftermath. :)

not sappy ones, though my personality probably qualifies.

lol I dont read much, only recommendation I have made was from 20+ years ago, too many hours in front of the TV & PC, not enough trips to the library

Hmm most sci fi does start or end that way

Those that start with it do so they can explain being in a very different world to the one we inhabit now

Those that end with it to show how technology or out misuse of it can be catastrophic

Sci Fi without these events, all nice and happy ever after ??? Cant think of any

some decent star trek... i dunno... :P

and all nice and happy need not apply...

war is okay, as long as it's not the entire plot...
all quiet on the western front, lord of the flies,
they need not apply.

opening saga of andromeda or star wars... meh... good story lines, but
maybe we could go with a series where i start with one of the middle books...
like clone wars...

just had too many stories of all media and genres that involved apocaliptic /
really depressing stuff...
they tend to stay in my head the longest...

or the part of my brain that hates being happy decides to expand on the story line
and has a contest to see how much depressing stuff it can start adding to the story...
:smt104 ... i really hate my brain sometimes. ](*,)

something about the promise of technology used relatively well would be nice...
the opening saga of star trek would probably fit, even if it opens with world war 3...

i can dream of picard's enterprise... <<-- there is another idea... :)

Have you tried the Homecoming series by Orson Scott Card?
Its ending is moderately happy. (the apocalyptic events happened 30-40 million years earlier)
