Cause to live in the universe? The cause is simple: life and free will. We Ancient few seeded life after the Great Plague, and determined to rise above the Ori, we choose not to interfere or demand to be worshipped as gods. In that respect, it is why we fight the Goa'uld who try to pose as gods, taking away the free will of lifeforms within this galaxy. As parasites, they steal away the very essence of the individual and replace it with an egotistical, power hungry, and destructive personality, essentially taking away the life of a being residing in this galaxy. Our cause is to fight against such beings by any means. For life and liberty, we fight.

What lies and deception you spew. The strongest will survive, and those who are weak will perish or be enslaved to worship there gods.
How can you compare living a life of boredom, when you can worship at our feet and enjoy long life and untold riches.
All you need to do is ask for forgiveness, and pledge your loyalty to the gods and you will be spared
