My favorite of all time has to be Dan Donegan of Disturbed or Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold. Donegan has that gruff sound of a distorted guitar that's just right for metal, and Gates has pretty awesome overdriven riffs. You can't deny that.

Gary Moore Or Rory Gallagher (Rory is dead however) .

There is a not a liveing guitarist that could have stood toe to toe with Rory.

Ive seen Moore live on several occasions, And he is quite simply Mind blowingly good. He is Perfection.

Gary Moore, Was guitarist for Thin Lizzy, One of the greatest Rock bands of our age! He has also released, i think the number is, 23 solo albums since, and he is internationally recognised as one of the greatest liveing Blues Genre musicsions!

Rory Gallagher, i'l let you off for not knowing who he is, As he died in 94 (or it could have been 92....) Anyway, He was anouther Blues Rock guitarist, Slash rates him as the best of all time.

Seriously, You kids and your Rage against the machines and Hip Hops and internets! The world doesnt revolve around Thrash dammit!
