Stargate SG-1 season 9 & 10

Do you think it would have been better if Stargate:SG1 stopped after 8x20 Moebius part.2 (season 8 last episodes), and then got second movie about Baal, while Atlantis would have by time to time relations with SG1 and an almost peaceful milky way galaxy?

That's my opinion. Sure, Jaffa nation's beginning is an interesting thing to develop, but they could have based a first tv movie on it, problems with jaffas loyal to Goaulds, relations with Earth etc...
That way SG1 would have finished as well as SGA did, not in a downfall path.

And this way, there wouldn't have been those seasons about Oris, and there wouldn't have been any Ori at all in Stargate, which would have been a pretty good thing in my opinion, last two seasons being more or less the worst seasons. I don't like series getting out of hands, such as last seasons of Charmed, getting too far in fantasy.

Re: Stargate SG-1 season 9 & 10

The whole Ori 'idea' was good and the only remaining logical step. However, I reckon they could have approached it differently. Instead of just killing off the Goa'uld and then throwing in the Ori, which were the same principle, except on a far more massive scale... they should perhaps taken a leaf out of charmed's book. Extended the seasons to an 11th, and played it safe and slow. Let the SG-1 run around and see the different planets again, as we all liked that!

Then during season 9, introduce a new insidious enemy, but at the same time, introduce the Ori as a friendly species and eventually through the 9th and 10th have SG-1 play cat and mouse in conjunction with the Ori with this new unseen enemy in the odd episode and mid season 2-parter whilst exploring the galaxy more, but at the same time.. have them fight a few thrall's of the unseen foe whilst following a path laid out by merlin which eventually reveals the Ori's true intentions, which bang.. season 10 finale = the start of the war...have them fight through the 11th and final season and end with the movie as the season 11finale, as opposed to the 10th one, which could well have been the episode to show the start of the war... the former enemy ships, revealed to be Ori ones, now ambush them whilst seeking sanctuary with the Asgard...

Of course...keep Jack O'neil in it.. fudge off Cameron Mitchell and Vala. It's Stargate, not Farscape... :smt011 I loved them both.. but it ticked me off when the cast spontaneously merged.

Charmed.. had run out of things to do tbh. Again, it was the natural logical path to take.. but at the same time.. it was rushed and the likes. It took an entire season to fight Zankou and the Avatar story line was spread across three seasons, it took about three seasons to take on the source, then you had an entire season with cole, and then the shadow plays and Wyatt.

All in all though, I reckon it should have ended with Zankou and then had the S8 story line put into a trilogy of direct to DVD movies. That way we could have had more of the Triad.. maybe even replace them with a NEW source...or something different... and the characters with the husbands and the entire diabolical plot could evolve and be more in all. As lets face it... it was very rushed and cost cuts meant they could not afford to pay Leo to be in the entire season, or use the underworld/LA locations they used to use...

Totally agree with you there, Cameron was a lame character, Vala was an interesting visitor but should never have been made a SG team member, both turned the series into a joke at the fans expense.

The worst thing about it, was Stargate Continuum, the latest SG-1 movie.. Cameron kills baal! Like WTH! lol.. after the whole torturing thing, the 'fateful' farewell on the Tok'ra homeworld, and all those years fighting the system lords.. it was no less than Jack O'neil's right to kill that last System lord, especially because it was Baal.

Re: Stargate SG-1 season 9 & 10

I personally didn't dislike Cameron (but O'neill was better, well, no doubts on it)...however, Vala... >_<
She's one of other reasons why I think it would have been nice to not have season 9 & 10! :P

Re: Stargate SG-1 season 9 & 10

I thought they could of made it to season 11 or 12. That's if they spread out the story of the Ori. I mean it took 8 seasons to fully defeat the Goa'uld but only 2 seasons and a movie to defeat the Ori. And the Ori were more powerful than any Goa'uld even Anubis. But casting Mitchell and Vala ruined the series for me. The writers just probably wanted Farscape fans to tune in and boost low ratings. They could of visited the Ori galaxy and fight them on their home planet and steal some nice Ori tech.
