Remove or Restrict usage of alliance PPT

PPT has always been for players to have breaks from the game for RL, the new alliance PPT is just a method for 1 highly active member to protect the less active members, it breads dependency and I think it should be removed.

I see the 'alliance repair all weapons' button has changed to 1 use per turn, if the alliance PPT is to stay I think it should also be restricted to say 1 use per day.

1 use/day = 7 hours worth of the 12 available ;)

And I disagree. IMO it helps improve tactics. You can save someone from being fully massed, or you can interrupt a counter-mass against your alliance.

I didnt say they could only PPT for 1 hour, so in 7 days they could still use 12 hours, they could use all 12 in one day if wanted but they could only press the button once per day.

As for tactics, once per day still allows for that, in fact more thought would have to go into when to use to, is the attack a faint, or the real thing ? What it would stop is one person protecting an alliance all day.

One of the weak points of the game was that defenses can be massed too easily especially when the player is offline.

Thus the long wars were getting boring because the players did not see the point in rebuilding their defense as it could be taken down too easily when they were offline.

The alliance ppt system allows players to "protect" their alliance mates and shifts the focus from offline to online battles.

This is a good thing IMO and an improvement of the game. I would hate to see it go just because massing a defense when the player is online is seen as too hard by some players.

As there is a limit to alliance ppt, a player can be protected only 4 1/2 days (4 days regular ppt + 12 hrs alliance ppt). This still leaves an open window of 2 1/2 days where his defense could be taken while he is offline.

The alliance PPT is on the the best additions to the game in a very long time. As stated it helps provide a tactical aspect to the game.

If the complaint is too much time spent on protection, then i would rather see the market PPT's reduced from 2 x 48hr PPT to 4 x 12 hr PPT and keep the alliance PPT.

Hmmm maybe it should then, covers a night or work time, on a general basis.

4 x 12 does nothing for people who need to go away for short trips - like over night and thus can't reset the PPT. The 2 x 48 is better and more useful in that they allow a proper break.

Or we could try thinking outside the box, and have the ability to tack the 12hr PPT's together?. ](*,)

IMO a move to this system would actually force more online action. People would probably have a PPT at night, but it then makes them attackable during the day

I think smaller increments could work. As was said, if they are stackable, then they are no different to the current setup, except that you need to do it twice. But I would prefer the ability to protect for the same time period. Some people don't have internet access at work, and so would prefer to PPT for 4/7 days of the week being mostly work days.

But this topic is not about the individual ppts, but about the alliance ppt and I am glad that we all agree that they spice up the game and make it more interesting for all involved.

I think the market PPTs (2x48h) are fine as they are.
Now alliance PPTs could be restricted to x amount per day, or delay of x hours after an use of alliance PPT. (example: if you use it and have hours of alliance ppt left before market reset, you need to wait let's say 24h before using alliance ppt again. If it's day restricted, you could make sure alliance ppt ends at 23:59 game time and do it again at 0:01 game time)
Or leave things as they are. Because market PPT is both for alliance people and lone wolves, so if you change market PPTs it's lone wolves who are disadvantaged. And anyway alliance PPT doesn't always follows personal PPT schedules so it's bit random to think it adds to personal PPT in the week schedule.

Only if they are stackable. If not, I would have to log in every 12 hrs. Which kinda defies the point of being "away" from the game :)

I fail to see how that statement is possible... unless your advocating another option for selecting how long to ppt for...
