I deleted my old account a few years ago, and recently started again, but i found i still have my old ascended, which i just logged into.
Is it possible to pull my old account (unascended) back from the Nether?

No.
Deleting main doesn't delete ascended, and vice versa.
You should delete it manually.

Yeah.
I just wondered if accounts were kept in limbo (a bit like a certain social networking site)

i don't think it's possible to delete the ascended if the main has already been deleted...
as it would be normally called "descension".

You do not need a main account to delete your ascended account.
Just do it, MTM.
