OK, group stages all completed, we've had the break. This is it now.

For me i'd rank the teams in 4 tiers.

tier 1:
Barcelona

tier 2:
Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen

tier 3:
Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter Milan, AC Milan

tier 4: everyone else.

Current Inter does not belong in Tier 3, but in 4, if even that.

I have bet 2 x 1k€ on Apoel. Waste of money.. *rubs hands* unless! [spoiler2=Why I say 'unless'](If they do win, I get 2x 250k from William Hill and bet365. That is how unlikely it is.)[/spoiler2]

Safe bet is Barca. Only side to come back this year at a similar level to last year. Arguably the best team of the world. (You will agree that World Cup thing is not representative.)

I belive barca game play has been broken, which was clearly demostrated by real on their last game, in which barca was very lucky. Secondly barca's defeats, draws and their points(10 after real) in La Liga clearly show that their status and gameplay are breakable and beatable.

So IMO Real has the best upper hand in getting the title in CL this year, specially as they are highly motivated after a season of great(like 150% of last year and the years before) gameplay and scores.

Anyways tonight fingers crosses Bayern L kicks barca's behind, althou I expect a win from barca, BL has a lots of their main players injured so kinda a shame we won't probably be watching such an interesting game as it would be with those players.

Real are a bette league side this year, but over 2 legs or even a final id bank on barca beating them. If madrid avoid barca think its theirs

Real Madrid

I think they have the magic to carry them this year. Also going by history no team has won the Champions League two seasons running so it'll either be Barca making history or someone else continuing the trend...

Tonight:

Lyon vs APOEL

Leverkusen vs Barcelona

I'd love to see Ballack having a go at bullying Xavi in the centre :P

EDIT: "Ballack is ruled out with a calf injury" shame

Barcelona have also been hit by a calf injury - midfield lynchpin Xavi missing out entirely

Very disappointing result, given their playing style.

one wonders how good the Barca defenders actually are considering they hardly actually defend. At passing around they're excellent though.

Your tier system had a glaring, and I mean GLARING, error. Don't worry, though, I took the liberty of fixing it for you Grizzles. ;) [spoiler]
