Why don't I like Lost?!?!?!

I watched BSG, and I loved it. I loved the first series of Heroes, and the Myth arc of X-Files before it started to suck. I loved the Silence arc in DW. I definitely had fun watching DS9, after the Dominion came in. Why is it, that about a season into lost, I'm not hooked? Reading a lot of spoilers, I realized it sounds like it would be fun to make it through, but most people say that I should be hooked at least by halfway through S1. I feel like the plot isn't all that intriguing, I don't care about the characters and the Smoke Monster is not at ALL menacing. Why is this? I have no idea.

You are a few years too late, is why. And you know way too much about it to be fun.
We - that is people who, like me, watched every week when it 'happened' - enjoyed the mystery because we had no -little- idea about what was going to happen. You just know too much, even if you know very little about it. ;)

I waited until after I decided I didn't like it to read ahead, and I didn't powerwatch it, just one or two a day, at most.

Yup. But you knew something about it when you started watching. You were not the blank slate that we were.

And you are spoiled. *grin* ;)

Yup. Well, too late now! What to do next :smt017 is Babylon 5 any good? I know nothing besides the fact that there's a war, and I knew that about DS9.

Well I'm like you Ang, I came late to the series, and bought season one and two because I wanted something easy to watch. Season one was a pretty mild affair, but half way through season two I couldn't NOT marathon it.

So really the characters got me through season one, but the story picks up really fast in the latter half of season two, and if you're not hooked by the close then I guess...there's something wrong with you :-D

The smoke monster isn't even introduced till like the last episode or some **Filtered** and you don't know that it's a smoke monster till like the last couple seasons or so. Jules is right. It was the mystery that drew most of us in. The wanting to know what happens in the next episode.

The story as a whole sucked. Mostly because the characters became annoying the story became convoluted and too much for the writers. So they clearly started improvising.

Ya know, like BSG. Kick **Filtered** ass up till like the last season or so. Then everything goes to **Filtered** in a hell basket or something.

Never mind. I'm on season 3 now, it grabbed my interest towards the end of Season One.

I read a ton of spoilers, but none of them made enough sense to be memorable.

Finished Lost a while back, not my favorite show ever but I liked it. It was an epic journey, and it's the show with the most pure STUFF that happens. I could never attempt to summarize it. Every other show, even all of Doctor Who's run, I could probably sum up in words, but not Lost.
