Raid

Wondering how people feel about raid in the style it was released on main back a few years ago.

Secondly.....HELL NO!

That was my main reason for calling for an Origins server in the first place....that and planets.

Personally, the only major update i would like to see is an MS as it was when i first started playing.


Anyone who wants Raid can go play main.

no worries ! i had no idea origins was becuase of those things. Planets was the bane of my existance when they came out its why i accepted that guys offer to buy my units when i quit all those years ago, raid however was the reason i was able to be such a loose cannon on people, i dont know if i ever told anyone but i had an army of noobs raiding for me daily :smt043 so as i killed 100K units a day in wars while i was in omega my minions raided them for me :smt112

you know what, im glad we wont get raid then now that i think about it. It would make people use their brains allot more often when it comes to consideration of losses.

I also agree that raid weakened the enjoyment of the original game. It meant less meaning to massing (on both sides).

I may consider a MS of sorts, if people feel this didn't break the game. Though it would be alot different to main's. It would be alot softer, and more a supporting structure, than some of the monoliths in main ;)

Yup Sarevok you got the idea right :smt023

MS is not right in Main, and the awful MS setup in NG is even worse. I have my vote on you that you will get it right if you do it... because you are actually asking the players for advice.

Can You please elaborate why MS in main is not right etc? I'm honestly curious

Believe it or not but i miss those days, my only regret-i took things to personally and didn't stop to think more often. if memory serves you had just massed me and quit shortly after that. i think you also tried to explain on the forum that i should take things less personally? :-)

Because even if space ships were real you can only put so many weapons on it and your shields can only be so strong. you can't keep endlessly adding weps and shields.

I made a proposal on main some years back which was discussed with Jason and most of the SGW community but was never implemented.


I think it went something like this...you can have an MS but say only have say 1000 weapons and about the same in shield generators and also say 25 maybe 50 fighters. the real power and cost would be that you can have up to say 100 Ha'tak which when you attack you will suffer losses regardless of your strength if the account you have attacked also has ships and a defence. and as stated will be expensive to replace, BUT if you are victorious in battle you will get 100% of the naq you have attacked for because you have attacked from land and air (assuming you are simply farming an account with zero defence). a cost vs losses would have to be worked out for attacking/massing accounts with defences.


If we are to have ships then something will have to be worked out otherwise it will become main all over again.

RE Motherships.

I would most likely remove the capacity part (which is what makes them so powerful), and simply have it that you can buy as many weapons/shields as you wish. Catch being, they increase in price each time (relative to the number you have), and enemy ships will always cause some damage. This way, people can build monster ships, but several smaller ones can whittle them weaker and weaker, and they will basically be replacing the most expensive weapons.

And scientifically it can be said that adding more shield and weapons right now is starting to cost a fortune because of the extremely high end parts been used to simply fit this much capacity within this ship.

Pretty much. That and needing to use "better component" to save space ;)
