UP Reduction during realm alert *TAG*

Question is, should it follow the same comparative reduction as income, for each realm alert?

I.e. -10%, -20%, -30%, -40%, and additional -10% for nox

Great idea. My only concern is would there be enough Uu out there? The amount of inactive randoms on Nox is ridiculous. Knocking down income is fine, because we can hit actives regularly for naq, Uu is slightly different.

This could have a slow (not a snails pace mind) impact on market forcing UU prices higher and higher as regular raiders find it harder to get decent raids. Raiders might have to lower the amount they go for which could throw possible profit margins out the window (price of repairs if you have more then one weapon as well as the cost of turns).

Not 100% sold on this idea.

Simpler (and without compromising the Nox Neutrality) is that the effect on UP only applies to 'people newly on Nox' (which it would, in all likelihood).

Could test it on Dev just to see what happens. :)

if we said 10% of raw unit production only, not total, would it have a big impact?

It will slow down UU but there is more than is needed out there at the moment.

Look at the UU prices over the last year. They have dropped to an all time low. Less war and more UU out there. Time to tighten it up.

If it only affected 'new' nox settings, it would have very little effect on raiding across the server. All your farmlists of inactives, would remain unchanged.

It would affect people setting nox, and going inactive from the time of the update.


For the active people, you'd have to make a choice. Do you want to lose 50% of income, and UP for the benefits on nox ? Could be a killer if you're over plague... Or do you prefer to leave yourself as a 1 minute mass? (Maybe invisibly, with log delays)

Do you mean only players that hit NOX after a certain date will be effected and not those already on NOX prior to the certain date?

Or

Do you mean that you jump on NOX and your UP is reduced then after a period of time it returns to normal? If so what are your thoughts on this period of time? You must have thought of something at this point.

Realm alert is far more important in this regard than Nox. (As it is with income, Nox' effect would be cumulative, yet you get the majority 'cut' from realm alert itself.)

Proposed idea:
When changing realm alert, your UP/Income changes. If you do not change realm alert (i.e. keep the same, which is what inactives will 'do'), UP will remain equal to what it is now.
This has the benefit of not changing the raid farms, but negates the 'tightening market' effect (which can be seen as bad).
Given the game's reluctance to update UP when you do not log in, unless someone becomes your officer or otherwise directly affects your UP (steal UP planet, etc).. that would be viable.


On to actual numbers however.. effects in the order of magnitude of the numbers mentioned can be rather dramatic for Plague-sized accounts, while negligible for smaller accounts.
Since this has no effect on Raiding, this would be an update favouring the sub-Raid limit accounts (and that might be a good thing, would be a change).

What I am curious about is whether or not an update like this would discourage using Realm alert. When combined with the 1min log delay, a too strong negative effect on proper Realm alert management could be too much of a 'force activity x' update. :)
Personally, I do not think it would go too crazy, but that is why this thread exists.. pros, cons, numbers.. discuss.

I think this could work if it excluded those farms already on nox..

look at this in realistic terms.. population.. if you are on lock down in your home, arent you more liklely get "get a little close with the partner"..increasing population.... <GRIN> so from realistic points.. meh...

if you do it, give people a check box next to it and give them a choice.. reduce income or reduce UP... I mean hell, i stay on crit all the time when I am not logged in to reduce income.. always have. To cause it to basically cost DOUBLE (naq AND up) thats a double charge for the same thing... so there should be some sort of positive to compensate... what? I dont know... how about increase covert power a certain percent more...

It would only effect people around the 5-12m mark which is very rare, so ure basically isolating a very small amount of people.. i highly agree with the 0 gnr nox should cancel. Would make people build up for g&r and it would once more be competetive.
