Re: Bayern Munich v Arsenal

it has nothing to do with socks, i mean they wear socks but thats not enough to call it soccer, its a sport where it requires you to kick a football using your feet into a goal. Thus the only logical options were football, or kickgoal. i mean you can cross reference and go with kickball or footgoal, but imma go ahead and say they made a good decision so **Filtered** you doc.

Now in contrast, in handegg, the only reference to foot and ball is that you have one guy who kicks, a slightly smaller rugby ball i might add, from the centre of the field so its the same kick every time and you dedicate one person to do it all the time, and nothing else. THATS LIKE HIRING SOMEONE TO WORK IN AN OFFICE TO MAN THE STAPLER AND NOTHING ELSE, YEA LETS DO THAT.

IN CONCLUSION **Filtered** YOU DOC :smt091 :smt099

Re: Bayern Munich v Arsenal

"Soccer" was originally called "association football" during the formation of the Football Association in England in the 1860s.

Near the end of 1863, Charles Wreford-Brown, who later became a notable official of the Football Association, was asked by some friends at Oxford whether he cared to join them for a game of "rugger" (rugby). He is said to have refused, preferring instead to go for a game of "soccer" - a play on the word "association". The name caught on.

English public schoolboys love to nickname things, then as much as now. The tendency is to add "er" to the end of many words. Rugby [Union] Football became "rugby", and then "rugger". Association Football was better know as "assoccer" and naturally evolved into "soccer" which is much easier for a schoolboy to say...

Therefore, the word "soccer" has been used in the mother country of all football-type games since at least the mid-19th century.

ITS YOUR HISTORICAL NICKNAME DUDE  not mine

Re: Bayern Munich v Arsenal

im gonna nickname handegg, handegg. Soon the UK will make handegg the official name for american football, no wait they called it american football, another logical name. Intelligence between these two countries must be questioned on naming official sports by nicknames.

yea i went there.
