why are mods except from sig size rule

I reported a sig a fewdays ago,
the said user and mod still has it and it exceeds the width permitted.

Section Admins - who will be 'in charge' of the section in question. They will be responsible for the overall feel of the section, the setup/structure, and most importantly the community/users in the section. This will incorporate the old 'ombudsman' role. And insofar as the Section Admin is responsible for the users, they are also responsible for the high level mod behaviour towards the users.
So -as a user - if you have an issue with how you are treated, rules, bans, whatever --goto the section admin... They are there for you!

There is no 'reporting structure' in this setup -- tech, mod, and section admins are all on equal footing, each with their own (somewhat overlapping) responsibilities.
Mods report directly to the mod admin, and indirectly to the section admin for the section in which they mod.

Which mod is it? I'd be happy to check for you. Also, if you are on a different skin to the standard one it does not matter, I use AcidTech green and if I need to check the width I have to switch to the standard skin. Also, it helps if you PM the mod in question as well, I only just found out it was mine from a PM

Re: why are mods except from sig size rule

You reported a Mod for sig violation because it stretches out your screen. Signature rules dictate no width maximum. The sig in question is under the height requirement of the forum rules and so it does not violate the rules for sig sizing.

f. Signatures.
Signatures may not exceed 450 pixels in height. That means you have a total of 450 pixels worth of space to form your signature. This does not include the space within a spoiler, however it does include the space taken up by the closed spoiler itself. Signatures will be measured from the top of the first item to the bottom the last, and on the forum skin the Moderator has applied; however in the case of a dispute the default forum skin will be used to measure.

You indicated it stretched out your screen, but it does not stretch mine. This could be browser/skin specific, so I will check with the other members of the forum/staff to see if anyone else is having an issue.

No one is exempt from the rules. This person in particular just happens to not be violating the Signature Size rule for which they were reported.

Re: why are mods except from sig size rule

my bad then, I was under impression there was a width limit too (600something I thought) .. having had previous runs in over sigs.

I shall add a pic to show how sig looks on my laptop...

the post above this one, is where the others all end for me, it is only Andy's sig that is stretching them all.. :/

Re: why are mods except from sig size rule

This is more a matter of courtesy than it is a matter of rules, I'm afraid. :)

Although I would say that you should be able to expect such courtesy from a moderator (especially with a signature that is clearly meant for nothing else but (and excellent at) ridiculing the alliance he is in). *grin*

I think I've realized what happens. For me, at least, the image automatically shrinks down to a size that does not stretch my screen. It could be the skin I am using, or the computers.

There is a 600px width limit in the rules about posted images. It's not quite clear if signatures fall under that rule. This is being discussed.

Thanks for the screen shot!

Before my browser "auto-resize" kicks in, it stretches my page quite a bit, similar to fems.

But this should really be left to a decision by all the Section Admins and myself. I am not the "supervisor admin" or anything like that, so this kind of decision would not fall on just me...

TL;DR it stretches my page. :P

Re: why are mods except from sig size rule

thanks for reducing the size of your sig Andy, it is a lot better now..

and perhaps a size limit on width should be applied to sigs as well (which I thought was the case previously)
