Because the majority of the time it's off-topic and there is a dedicated sub-section for discussing moderator's actions, and why they're muppets.

ya i get that and like your majority there.

But what harm does it do? The fact that a mod has to comment means theres more then likely spam there in the first place, and should be closed anyway.

Its pointless. Its not like your all high and mighty and nobodys allowed to reply to you, just cause you wrote in a different colour of writing.

It's nothing to do with someone thinking they are "all high and mighty". It is that discussion of mod actions does not belong in the thread where the action occured. More often than not, the discussion of the mod action would bring the thread discussion off topic.

exactly, but what's the harm in doing so? You post or 'mod' in a topic, why cant somebody reply? Its POINTLESS and just means more effort for you guys doing your 'jobs'
Every thread has a topic, and talking about the moderator action that a mod just did is almost never the topic of discussion. So replying would make your post off-topic. There is a rule against spam/off-topic posts.

That being said, at this point in time I don't agree with how the rule currently is or is being enforced. Although I just recently voted B on that voting thing, I think replies to a Mod's post should be treated the same as every other spam post. Action is only required if the post has made the thread go off-topic. A single solitary post can't do that.

Replying to a mod = ordinary spam.
The community held a vote as to how it should be handled. If you don't like the outcome go yell at the entire community.

why is it spam? i reply to any other people like i am now, but am not spamming but on topic

Replying to a mod != ordinary spam under the current rules.

It is spam because it is not the topic of the thread.
A mod posting in a mod color is a note to the users, it is "outside the sanction of the thread"
by replying to it, you are derailing the topic of the thread. Thus, spam.

If you want to comment on a mod action, pm them.
Its not complicated. Hell, they have this section right here and a whole mess of feedback threads for direct public communications.

I don't understand why its such a big deal to NOT comment on a mod posting a general notice in a thread.

its pointless lol, need i say anymore? just because somebody quotes you lol doesnt deserve some sort of warning.

jeesus spam and no spam, spams everywhere. Your never gunna controll it

Yes, yes it is.

I know what your intention was but that's not how it was carried out.

Forum Guidelines wrote:Section 4: Spam
b. Replies
Replies will be considered spam if they do not contribute to the discussion of the topic, or derail the topic from the intended purpose as defined in the opening post. This may include multiple replies that contain nothing more than emoticons or small words such as ‘lol’. While it is appropriate to indicate something is amusing, drowning out a whole thread with such posts makes it hard to follow for all users. The act of replying to a moderator post falls under this category, provided said post was not in forum issues or one of its subsections. Private messages (PMs) are not subject to this rule.

Consequence:
A polite note from a moderator will be personally issued requesting the user cut down the amount of irrelevant posts. Repeat offenders will be given one warning point.
While it's certainly open to interpretation I would say under the current wording most Mods would think that a verbal warning need be issued every single time someone replies to a Mod's post, which should not be the case. It should as I said earlier, where action is only required if the spam posts (replying to a Mod's post) has brought the thread off-topic.

In addition there is also a language problem in that somehow now replying to a Mod's post in Forum Specific Issues sub-section is now never against the rules ever.

If a mod does that, then they are morons and need to be reprimanded. It is worded quite clearly that it is to count as ordinary spam outside this section.
Yes well there would be no grounds to do so, and in addition it should be spam in this section just like any other :o

If I reply to Odin's Mod post in a thread about Haz now being a GM or something like that it's just as much spam then as any other time.

This is exactly why it is spam.
Replying to a mod post in a topic is off topic, which is spam. If you wish to respond to the mod, you may either pm or create a topic in talk to mods direct.

So you advocate giving a verbal warning for every single spam post that is made?

Re: Replying to a mods post

Blatant off topic spam, which replying to a mod is, yes. If someone is slightly less off topic it is quite different than posting about something completely unrelated, which a reply to a mod post would be.

If it is of enough level that it is way off topic, then it is spam and deserves a verbal.

Just because the consequence was changed, it does not mean the action is any less against the rules than it was before.
