If we could get a live in game chat mechanism it would greatly increase player numbers.
I know of many games that are horrible horrible games that have many players simply because this human live aspect is there.
I suggest a world chat and an ally chat and a personal chat.
This game is great - this would help expand it. - greatly expand it.

When logged in, hit "Come Chat on IRC" in the top left menu.
World chat: #gatewars
Alliance chat: #(your alliance leader sets this)
Personal chat: #..anywhere..else
Twice a week on Friday there are admin meets (well, basically big brainstorm sessions in which as many people as possible give as broad a player perspective as possible on ideas put forth by other players or by admin). For those, you would check #theplace.
