Alliance related question

Hi,
I've got a question, although i pretty much know the answer

There are 261 alliances total, and a lot or most of them are inactive. I remember first time playing this game i started in one alliance, that has long since been inactive (like ururur but not ururur).
I would very much like to go back to that alliance, and start running it (nostalgia, old times sake etc, etc), but the 1IC, as all the other members are inactive.

Without an invite, is it somehow possible to get back in one such alliance? (or are we condemned only on seeing the old ruins )

and just FYI for future reference, there is not a "like ururur".

there is ururur, then there is everything else.
