The +'s and -'s of Ascending a CoTNW

Woo - finally produced a main multi from NG. Took a while! (PS the guide on the forum is out of date).

I'm in two minds whether or not to push it through the three further available ascensions to take it to Unknown. I rather like the title Conquerer of the New World too. An extra 3% stat bonus for the extra maintenance of a further ascended server account?

So, on balance, what do people think?

cotnw = undescendable, in return 3% less stats and 3% less chance of AB.

I don't actually remember how to play ascended it's been that long. I was never particularly good at it to be begin in all honesty. I think knowing I won't have to worry about an ascended account is enough to convince me, cheers

If you play ascended, absolutely yes. If not, it's less essential and don't worry about it.

Iv gone for the undescendable approach, why ?

Well in war 1 account won't be Descended so I get bonuses all year round
It can be used as a IC boost account so +s for me thier with low cost to set up also to hold UU for my main
I keep all the ME on my main account
it get the same turns and MT whether TUK or COTNW
Also as a COTNW I still get the fleets for extra planet steals

But obviously I miss out on all the +s of having a 2ND ascended account but your only allowed one accounts in tournaments

So it must just come down to what server your gunna play the most !?

Most people stay with CoTNW or wish they had lol. I kinda wish I had with my NG but then again I also play ascended on a regularish basis so its not to bad for me. However for someone that isn't as active or would have to re-learn ascended etc perhaps not the best idea.

Put it this way, you can always not ascended then choose to ascend at a later date. However you can't ascend then press an undo button. Well unless you wanna descend and go the daimon route but then you lose all AB.

I did end up ascending my account as it happens. I figure I've gone one, I might as well go the other two to UKN.

Would someone be kind enough to advise on the pro's and con's of becoming a daimon?

Honestly Clock's description is pretty spot on, you get no ascended bonus, double unit losses and don't collect g&r so you can't ascend or use that part of the market.

Descending yourself PERMANENTLY is in place. You become a Daimon -1/2 diety/1/2 mortal. You get the 'vacation bonuses' minus the ascended blessing. You can move to a mortal race, but thats it...
If on vacation, you get ascended blessing AT HALF THE SUCCESS RATE AS NON VACATION along with 1/2 bonus on the rest...


update on Daimon: the battle losses from a daimon are double (on each side) and casualities on covert (ie the spies dying) are double...No glory either.
this makes it not only a bit more of a penalty, but creates a different playing style/option for the whole gameplay

What happens to your title?

If you were an Unknown for example, would you still be one despite being a Daimon? Do you lose the accumulated stat bonus too?

That isn't too bad.

You'd still have your forty percent bonus (or whatever it is) from being a UKN at the time of 'daimonising' yourself? Except you'd have no ascended account to worry about at the expense of not having a fancy red title along with double battle losses. I can live with that. I think.
