Income Planet Boost Tweak

Since there hasn't been a thread made about this yet, but it seems that Jason is removing the 5x boost to income planets he brought in a few weeks ago, I figure we should have a place to talk about this before it comes into effect in main instead of just the dev server.

I understand the complaints people have with making income planets so powerful, but this update has been in place long enough for many players to have invested hundreds of trills, if not quads of naq into their planets. That's not just big time $$ spenders either, it's regular players who instead of getting that next covert level decided to plan ahead and invest in planets. Removing this update will not only cost a lot of active players a lot of naq (and threaten their desire to stay active - trust me, quite a few people I know will vac again if this is removed) but it will be punishing the people who play the game the proper way, seeing new updates and adapting.

This topic can also work as a warning to anyone not paying attention. Don't spend any more naq on your income planets. Odds are soon, it will have been all a waste.

Not I, I wanted to go but had a meeting last week and the morning meeting was cancelled. I have heard rumblings for a few weeks that income planets were going to be reduced either back to original or to just 3x original. Now the dev server has been updated and income planets were reduced back to original a couple days ago. No context seen from Jason anywhere aside from heresay so I can't speak to that. I'd like to see him post about it though, would help clarify everything for all of us.

I don't think I have logs but I was there and Jason asked everyone what they though about it, should they stay at 500% or be removed down to 400% or 300% and everyone said they should stay. So assuming he listened... it would seem they're staying at 500%. He did want to bring them down though.

I think the argument Math makes is a non-issue and would be one Jason would push aside. The game changes all the time and everyone knows that, an investment you make at one point can be changed into something worthless the next.

I also believe Jason is thinking about making this update because of players like Stiffy, or even solely because of Stiffy and his 800bil/turn or so income. Stiffy is just an anomaly and Jason if you're reading this you shouldn't make an update and reduce income planets because of someone like Stiffy.

Income planets are one the few remaining resources mid-range players have to keep in the game and compete with players who spend cash to gain their resources. They should remain at 500%, even if cash players can abuse them and get ridiculously huge incomes. Either way people like Stiffy are going to have tons of resources... doesn't matter if they're in income planets or not. There is nothing wrong with Income planets.

It's true that in the past people have invested huge sums in attack and defense planets only for them to be made void. That said, usually that is after years of usefulness. I can't recall (maybe bad memory in my old age) an update that dramatically changed investment purposes that lasted only long enough for people to invest in it.

He did a reset on the dev server, the income planet update might not be in the dev server update, i dont know specifics...but just a hunch. I have heard 3x or 4x rather than 5x but the same thing gets brought up about the players that invested heavily into them. And its true, when the update first came out, there was a bug where the purchase price of new facilities was bugged, where it cost a fraction of how much it would really cost, even at 5x. One example: For me to have gotten from 1t to 2t was supopsed to cost about 100T naq, however the players with 100b income planets could get 2t from 0 for like 60t. It was bugged, players invested into them, and then when the bug was fixed there was some grumbling because the power went down to scale to the way it should have been. In essence these players were getting 10x the amount of power, scaled down to the desired 5x ticked off a few.

If its bumped to 3x or 4x, its still more than anyone had before but the fighting will not cease over it, as you stated players having dumped 100s of T's or quads even will get hugely upset that their naq went to waste with their now unwanted planets.

Thanks for the mention, and true my income is rather large. Its a headache to keep safe, its not all its cracked up to be trust me. However, I probably have not spent really one dime of the naq I have accumulated on my own account. Also, just for the record, prior to the update i had them at about 350b just so u know. I always invested into them since my start of gatewars.

He reset the dev server with the planets at 5x. Then a day or two later, they were returned to original. That seems to be the only modification he has made to the dev server, at least that I could find.

I think the argument Math makes is a non-issue and would be one Jason would push aside. The game changes all the time and everyone knows that, an investment you make at one point can be changed into something worthless the next.

I also believe Jason is thinking about making this update because of players like Stiffy, or even solely because of Stiffy and his 800bil/turn or so income. Stiffy is just an anomaly and Jason if you're reading this you shouldn't make an update and reduce income planets because of someone like Stiffy.

Income planets are one the few remaining resources mid-range players have to keep in the game and compete with players who spend cash to gain their resources. They should remain at 500%, even if cash players can abuse them and get ridiculously huge incomes. Either way people like Stiffy are going to have tons of resources... doesn't matter if they're in income planets or not. There is nothing wrong with Income planets.
