No, wait! The Men Who Stare at Goats was worse! I couldn't even finish that movie, only one ever... Inglorious Bastards is 2nd worst. Wow it was bad.

Anyways, Tarantino is good in his other actually good movies though. Hans Zimmer is also a god.

Inglorious Bastards was complete rubbish but its not even in the top 100 worst movies, there is so much crap out there. It only seems worse than it is because we have such high expectations from Tarantino.

I assume that was sarcasm, I just checked his history and though decent enough there is nothing thats really stands out as special. His best work IMO is still 'Video Killed the Radio Star' back in the 80s.

You old bastard, c'mere so I can kill you with my bare hands Mezz!

How can you say that?!

You loved Gladiator, didn't you? He did the bloody soundtrack! Black Hawk Down? He did it. Lion King? He did it. Tears of the Sun? He did it. Rain Man? He did it.

There are so many that he has done over the years that made decent movies great simply because of the music. :P

Re: Soundtracks in Movies

I love the music that Hans Zimmer puts together in films, but the man doesn't qualify as a musician to me. He can't read music, so he simply never writes anything down. His involvement in soundtracks is quite good, but he never bothers to learn about the scene he is doing the score for and I think that sometimes it shows.

Example:
A League of Their Own (one of the few "chick flicks" I like because it has sports)
He did the song for the World Series ending and it makes the whole thing sound very exciting...but the song is so generic that it could be the soundtrack for any number of films. There is nothing that really fastens the song to the scene. Good music, but the man knew nothing about baseball.

Re: Soundtracks in Movies

I totally enjoy the score, I believe it to be 40% of the movie.
Here are some I have on m ipod..

LOTR (possible the best)
Starwars
Transformers (first one had the best)
Harry potter, even though it has been a disappointment for recent movies.
Pirates of the Carribean
The terminator
Titanic

@noob, u can't deny, Hans Zimmer is a total plagiarizer.. Listen to pirates of the c music, And then listen to gladiator music, it's a total copy. That guy is lazy, he just
Cuts and pastes when he has no time.

He can't plagiarize if he never writes it down. Since he doesn't, I don't think it counts. He simply a bad composer.

Let's not single out Zimmer here...they all do it. Look at John Williams - some of the Harry Potter soundtrack is a complete lift out of Phantom Menace....

I never payed much attention to Williams. Zimmer only gets my attention because he's everywhere! There is no escaping that which is Hans Zimmer.

Re: Soundtracks in Movies

ZImmer makes it very obvious..

check out Pirates of the Carribean THeme, and than the Gladiater theme when he first fights in the ring.. they are SAMEEEEE...

havn't noticed it in starwars and harry potter yet.. I guess Williams must be better at copying music and embedding it in.

Re: Soundtracks in Movies

reusing music for multiple productions is not really plagerism if the composer / arranger have or had the rights to the music. :-k

it's more like... regifting? distasteful at most... 8-[
