Nov, 2012 - ERA 33 - PeasantVille!

MidEval Land...sort of.

This Era is odd - to you - in that it seems so lowly developed here.
The world itself that you find yourself on, judging from cosmological signs, is HUGE. It must be over 1,000,000 times the size of 'original earth'. This you cannot explain, but know to be so.
The various race families are still here, but everything is technologicially underdeveloped. Even naquadah has little, or no, energy component -its just a dull metal.
Peasants - the lifeblood of the realm - are plentiful, and as much a commodity as naq. Although they fight - fairly well. The world itself is brutal, and just living here teaches the basics of fighting and battle.
You have 'safe' areas you can hide your peasants/citizens if you have desire to keep them safe. You can call them back anytime (the 'unit bank'.)
So - basic. brutal. abusive. sounds fun....
TO ARMS!

Era 33 chase chickens and catch them in nets.
Doesn't it look like we'll get to chase after bots and get bonuses for killing them before they respawn? I'm liking it.

It's usually smart to ignore the crackheads standing around the quantum verse market place muttering to themselves of eras gone by.. and claiming they are Admin Jason Witnesses', scratching themselves and telling whoever will stop and listen about the doomsday appocolypse era that blows up on December 21st, 2012 and randomly changes itself each week between all the past eras... "Yeah right," I tell those crackhead Jaffa every time I buy my turns. "There will never be a Untrainable-Bloodsworn-Old School-Happiness Freak-Racial Profilin'-Worldship Driving-Ascended-Amped-Undead-Time Looped-Stoned-Cloned-Uberman-Dragon-Gambling-Hedonism-Slave-God in this here marketplace!!!" I yell at them and shake my cane. "Go back to your fountain ye damn crack smoking hippies!"

Hmm... lots of questions here...

If naq is just a 'dull metal' why does it seem that we still earn the same amount of it per miner (trade unit). Also, why does this dull metal still buy the same stuff that it did in previous eras?

If everything is technologically underdeveloped... why do techs appear the same as before?

If weapons are so less advanced, why do they have the same power as old weapons?

If peasants are the life-blood of the realm, why are they as much a commodity as naq? - shouldn't the units be far more valuable?

Seeing as you have introduced a 'unit bank', does that mean that miners (trade units) can be killed? If not, what is the point?

To me this wave looks EXACTLY the same as the last wave, except that you can't declare someone your sworn enemy.. which means that there in fact isn't anything special at all. Quantum is supposed to have some crazy additive that spices it up and makes it different to main!

I'm not sure what the "crazy additive" is, but most people who have been attacked have lost 72 units, even though everyone starts out with 0 trained defenders and intel agents. I'm guessing that this means that peasants or trade units are also killable.

Hmm it seems Untrained Units attack and defend...Not sure about miners yet :P

yes some things are different... 'crazy' - not so much. different yes :)
regards costs and powers -its a relative scale.
techs - will see if i can tweak those :) --more. some are.
the fact that peasants fight really threw some power into the 'auto defences' ... adjusting a bit :)
the early bird gets the steroid worms, but it did cost them more...so it goes.

How about a crazy suggestion? :smt117

In a time where there are very limited technological advancements, there is still highly valuable things to be found; gold, diamonds etc.

Also, surely the people of this era do not have solid political trade agreements, but rather survive by taking over others villages, and stealing their slaves, or enslaving their people..and also stealing their weapons.

Also, perhaps there are people that specialise in finding these diamond and gold deposits.

So I propose 2 things:

1) When you successfuly attack someone, you gain a % of their attack and defense weapons. When you fail, they gain some of your attack weapons.

2) You introduce a new "super" income unit. There are a limited amount of them (perhaps you give every account 10 or 100 of them). The income they produce increases based on some fancy formula that keeps them awesome for the whole wave. (or perhaps instead of generating income, each one boosts your natural income by say 5%).

2a) These super income units are highly valuable, and can of course be taken, and cannot be protected (other than by your defense).... they don't go in your unit bank. When an account is attacked or raided (one or the other or both) you lose a % of your super income units.

I suppose it is a similar theory in some way to the stones era... but there will be lots for everyone...but having more will give a great advantage and be hard to hold onto!

A extra idea I just thought of.. (maybe a bit too crazy)

3) Add a new tech that "attracts" super income units from other realms. They see brighter job prospects in more powerful realms and move accordingly...

_________

Seeing as this era is only a day old and nothing has happened... and it is currently frozen anyway... you could easily implement these, or just restart the era! :D

________

What do people think? :smt115

EPIC post from my Dad... (You are my Dad still, right??) Don't say a word, anything you say will just continue to sting my very soul.

And, as usual, I likey some of Hippy's proposals for Super Income units, etc. The Era is NOT too old, nor too functionally actually clocking forward, to make some interesting Tweaks! :smt112

'Bad Affy' sez... "Kikaz is EPIC just by being." :smt025

I agree, some extra feature has to be added, otherwise this will be a very, very simple era with no real twist whatsoever, except that you can store units.
