Goa'uld? Look in here for info on the Gods!

As I am all knowing this idea is original...(no its not..I stole it..thats we Goa'uld do...but anyway)...

For those who do NOT watch the show..here is a 101 on the Goa'uld.

For die-hard Stargate fans, I will fore warn, this is NOT every piece of information attainable on the Goa'uld, but rather as briefly as possible set of info that we generally mention on a day to day basis....or could mention. Some things may need explaining elsewhere...(such as Ashraks, what ACTUALLY occurred in SG-1..etc etc..)

Basic Etiology/physical characteristics/attributes of the Goa'uld:
The Goa'uld basically look like this:
Image

The above is an adult Goa'uld symbiote. They are parasitic, amphibian snakes. Where as they can survive without a host, they cannot perform many actions without one. Known host's include the..

Unas:
Image

or after several thousand years, when the Goa'uld Ra discovered earth, they began using Humans:

(Apophis)

To describe the Goa'uld in a word, evil could be the only one. Once they have taken their host, they break its consciousness to the point where the parasite has complete control over the body and the old life see's nothing but a terrible nightmare. The Goa'uld take a host by entering some area of the body and then crawling up the spine, wrapping round it and blending with the hind brain (interacting with it through the frontal jaws where vein like growth appear to connect to the brain in conjunction with the mouth.)

The Goa'uld have NO immediate gender, though this is of course contradicted by the presence of 'Queen' Goa'uld in the TV series, leading to the speculation that every 'average' Goa'uld is male, and the Queens are the obvious. Similar to bee's. When in a host though, the Goa'uld take up the gender persona of their host. When posses the Goa'uld host commonly display characteristics of a very monotone, booming voice, much how you would imagine an angry god to sound like. Their host's eyes can 'flash' at will. (explained further later, see: Goa'uld society)

Goa'uld History:
This is a brief VERY monotone history..DO ENJOY THOUGH!!! :-D

Basically the first Goa'uld became self aware on P3X-888 (Number is a galactic planet address). This is also the home world for the Unas. The Unas became the Goa'ulds first host's, and so domination of the planet began until the Goa'uld found the stargate, learned to use it and began to spread throughout the galaxy acquiring technologies of other races, such as the ancients (see asgard/ancient forum) through war, trickery and sheer dumb luck. Some 22,000 years ago Atok rose to power over the new and growing, but unstable Goa'uld galactic empire. (It was actually that Goa'uld that first led the race beyond their home world and began the empire.)

Atok was killed by Apep, who then re-organised the Goa'uld leadership allowing Ra (yes, egyptian sun god, see society a bit further down), Thoth and Nut to begin their ascention. The empire continued to grow, and more and more Goa'uld rose to power, but in a state of peace (working together) until one Goa'uld, Anubis took the lime light about 19,800 years ago. He quickly grew and slowly and insidiously began using special healing technology to send Apep mad, until he was able to kill the Goa'uld Emperor, thus taking the mantle himself and using powerful technology he had previously acquired to dominate the galaxy and his fellow Goa'ulds further.

Ra rallied the remaining Goa'uld together and began a galactic wide civil war against Anubis in the name of their fallen father Apep. After 300 years the combined forces of the Goa'uld of Apep, defeated Anubis. Ra took control and the newly christened system lords went back out into the galaxy, but in a far less stable state then before (Ra became the Supreme System Lord). About 10,000 years ago Ra discovered earth and took the first human host's and slaves, seeding us throughout the galaxy, and turning us into Jaffa upon the world of Dakara. 5000 years ago, earth rebelled and Ra left it, he no longer needed it. During this time Anubis made an attempt at returning (about 1000 years ago) but was quickly overwhelmed and defeated, thought to be dead. Not only Anubis, but the constant threat of Sokar, another terribly evil Goa'uld continued to threaten the 'stability' of the empire and Ra's hold, though Sokar was to defeated and banished, remaining considerably 'quiet'.

During this period of Ra's reign Goa'uld such as Apothis, Cronus, Nirrti, Baal, Lord Yu, Osiris, Hathor and Setesh all came to higher powers and some even lost their power to their fellow System Lords.

In 1994 Ra was killed by Colonel Jack Oneil of the Tauri (the Goa'uld name for earthlings.) At this point Apophis became the most powerful System Lord, not taking Ra's title though. Apophis was quickly defeated by the Tauri, as to were Sokar, Cronus, Setesh, Nirrti, Osiris and Hathor. (after being locked away by Ra). Over the course of 10 years since Ra's fall, the System Lords were decimated, their human slaves turning on them, until now only Baal remains.

It should be noted that those pesky lego pieces (the replicators), the foul Tok'ra (rebel Goa'uld) and the Tauri ALL contributed to the destruction of the System Lords strangle hold on the galaxy.

Goa'uld Society:
Prior to the first fall of Anubis the Goa'uld were orgonised into a single coalition or Empire under the rule of Atok and Apep. After Anubis was defeated, the galaxy was split apart amongst the remaining superior Goa'uld, who took up the mantle of System Lord, and convened in a council to discuss galactic issues. Otherwise they were in a constant state of war, continuously fighting one another due to the lack of other major powers within the galaxy.

By this point, if you made it this far, and are still interested, you must be wondering, WHY do we role play as Gods? Why? Well the Goa'uld's main form of control was propaganda. They used their technology, and dominating presence (remember the voice and eyes!!!) so convince their slaves and newly to be conquered worlds that they were Gods, and during their time in control of earth, they left an impression leaving us with some of the norse, egyptian and chinease Gods, with reference's of Sokar being Satan himself.

Goa'uld Technology:
The Goa'uld posses a varied range of Technology.

They have space ships, known as Hatak attack vessels:
Image
(Hatak, smaller vessel is an Alkesh bomber.)

These were used to transport their armies (along with the star gates) across the galaxy, and of course take on enemy cruisers and bombard from orbit or carry cargo. Each one is easily the size of two or three aircraft carriers.

The Goa'uld use armies of jaffa and in the last decade the near indestructible Kull warriors (created by Anubis). Each Jaffa has the marl of their respective Goa'uld Over lord marked upon their forehead. The first prime (chief Jaffa servant tot he Goa'uld, each System Lord has one.) has this marked out by pouring gold under the skin, thereby making it unmovable without considerable scaring. (It looks nice though..if ur into all that...)

As for personal weaponry or protection, the System Lords used hand devices. These could produce shields or powerful energy wave blast's capable of knocking groups of opponents to the floor. These hand devices could also be used for mental torture or technology activation. They are the bread and butter for any System Lord.

The Goa'uld have a naturally long life, but with the healing aid of a sarcophagus and the continued switching of host's/stasis they can live for thousands of years. (Ra/Anubis were practically 22000 years old...) This technology needs the user to sleep within it, and can bring users back from the dead and heal generally all injuries. Exposed use on humans causes them to go doolaly... and the Goa'uld can only use it for a certain amount of time. (Lord Yu within recent years began going senial, and was unable to take a new host.)

Anubis:
Anubis was the baddest bad ass of them all... as you might have got the hint of by now... After his second defeat (about 1000 years ago) Anubis learned how to ascend to a higher plane of existence and become a state of energy. Being repulsed by his presence the other ascended beings partly returned him to normal but in some "bastardized" state. Ergo he is no longer directly a parasite, but rather a form of energy.

He was also able to create the new foot soldiers, the Kull warriors and make use of very advanced ancient technology. Anubis held the galaxy within his grasp even after a crushing defeat above earth herself. (Post the death of Ra and Sokar.) He was poised to destroy the galaxy, but his early retirement was forced upon him by Oma Desala. (Another ascended being, not of Goa'uld origin.) Where as Anubis is not dead, he is now part of an eternal battle against Oma on the ascended plane of existence.

He appeared in the series as a hooded figure or as a large fat man called 'Jim' on the ascended plane. Anubis did take host's as an ascended being, due to being unable to work physical objects in a state of energy without his facial black mask (shield) to keep his form in tact.

The Tok'ra
Their name directly translates into against ra. They were formed orignally by the ideals of the Tok'ra Queen Egeria, who basically thought Ra was being to naughty. She spawned many Tok'ra but after 2000 years was found and captured by Ra, left on Pangara, where she died after being exploited to produce mass symbiotes.

The Tok'ra have worked for thousands of years to undermine the Goa'uld empire, never being able to take it on directly due to lack of numbers and technology. They worked in conjucntion with the Tauri and the rebel Jaffa against the Goa'uld. Later the also assisted against the Replicators and the Ori.

It should be noted that there are a lot of players who claim to be Tok'ra, dont know why they would..but they do and generally role play accordingly, there is a group for forum Tok'ra users..
