Return of Poseidon!

On a small jungle planet, lightyears from the nearest inhabited systems, A small fire fights to maintain a refuge of light in the surrounding darkness. A lone man lays his head onto his sandy surroundings. A rack hangs over the fire, drying the remainder of the day's catch. At the very edge of the enclave of light, one can see furiously written inscriptions that cover the sand.

Passing into an uneasy sleep, the man tosses and turns. In his dreams he sees amazing and vivid scenes of the most glorious battles. The skies burn with fire as hulking behemoths battle for control of them. On the ground millions of men engage one another in heated displays of emotion and passion, displays from which only one walks away.

The survivors of these encounters regroup, as their leader, the man within whose head this furious battle takes place, raises a charred and tattered standard. Thrusting the standard into the ground, he and his men move on, eager to further display their courage and skill.

The man leads his force to a small fishing village that lies upon a river. Several warriors leave their homes to combat this new enemy. The man charges into the fray, losing himself to bloodlust and fury as both comrade an enemy fall around him.

As this battle continues, a large shade begins to cover the village and continues to encompass those engaged in combat outside it.

The man sits up, in a cold sweat. It is day and his fire has burned out, leaving the smoked fish above it, prepared for storage.

Standing, he surveys his surroundings. The very same sight he's held for nearly a year now; the beach on which he stands, a river, and a massive lake at the center of which lays a solid gold pyramid protruding from it's surface.

He walks to the inscriptions, kneels down to make a handful of calculations in the sand next to it, and stands again. Looking back down to his writing, he nods his head, and looks, first to the right at the near mile long path of writing and former campsites, then to the sky. Cloudless. He then returns to the writing and murmurs something to himself.

The first trickle of rain strikes him on the shoulder. followed by another on his arm. and another on his nose. Within seconds a torrential downpour wipes away all of the mathematics scrawled out in the sand. Then, as quickly and mysteriously as it came, the rain stops. The man then moves to his former campsite and collects a bag before moving off into the woods.

After hours of hiking, the man comes to a small ivy covered stone face. He raises a hand to brush the ivy and dirt from the stone to reveal a shining metal surface. Walking around the side of the structure, he touches a small panel on the outside. An opening appears. Moving inside the structure, the man heads to a small console to his left. With a wave of his hand over the console, light fills the room, revealing the interior to be that of a Tel'tak. In the corner lay three opulently dress skeletons, all of which are hooked up to a seemingly cobbled together device in the place of the former power core.

Moving to a small container in the back of the hold, he removes a set of armor, the one which he had been wearing in the dream. After quickly changing from his damp clothing, the Man returns to the Console. Taking a seat, he seals the ship. Cautiously piloting the ship up above the tree canopy, the Man slowly moves the ship to the river that he had left hours before. Once he passes over the golden pyramid, he pushes the ship into orbit.

His sensors flash and blare as soon as he reaches orbit. Debris. Thousands of miles of debris. Slowly coaxing the vessel through treacherous field, the Man focuses all his attention on the piloting of the vessel.

Once through the field, he enters a familiar set of coordinates. patting the vessel, he mutters a few words of reassurance to himself before initiating the jump to hyperspace.

After several hours the ship enters the orbit of an island world. Taking the vessel in to land, the man is greeted by no transmissions. Upon landing he rushes out of the craft, to be greeted by Horse headed men. The guards point staffs at him, but kneel as he raises a hand from under his blue cloak.

The two Horse headed men escort the Man into an enormous building decorated with massive colonnades. The man is greeted by several more men, all of whom kneel at the sight of him, and each, in turn, kiss the rings upon his hand. These men stand and escort him to a room.

Hours later, the Man, his head covered in a blue hood, walks out onto a balcony that overlooks the buildings courtyard. He looks down at the courtyard to see it filled with millions of spectators. Walking to the very edge of his balcony, he slowly pulls the hood back to reveal the visage that he shares with many of the statues housed in the courtyard below.

A peculiar silence falls over the courtyard. His eyes scanning the crowd, he begins to speak:

"For far too long I have been away. For far too long have you been without a ruler." he pauses. "I know that many things have changed in my absence... I know that our enemies have committed many atrocities against this once proud empire, but I assure you, soon, all will know that your God, Poseidon has returned!"

Poseidon turns on his heel, cloak flowing behind him, and walks back into his palace, amid the cheers of the crowd of millions. Once inside his palace where the thunderous noise of his people had dropped to a dull roar, he looked at his three advisers and said,

"We have work to do."

It's good to be back guys! I figured i'd write up a little something, hope you like it!
