Is SGW dying?

Recent discussion have made me wonder about the public's oppinion on the state of the game. With new updates who people ether consider good or big flaw in the history of SGW many people have departed. I know a game needs to move on but when the core of the players is leaving the game has become boring. I would like to see everyone's oppinion in the hope that the big man behind the curtain will see em to and maybe his eyes will open then for the sake of the players not for the sake of the wallet.

If it keeps continuing the way it is, it will end up like Ascended. Broken, and barely played.

People who spend cash are going to dominate this game where players who work hard can't keep up.

I agree.

I love the game and have worked hard on my account without once using money on it because i cant afford it and also because i find it more challeging not to.

And the way it continue and where it seems ascended will stay broke does make me wonder.

Yes I agree with u Noobert. The game currently has a state where it takes no effort to build or maintain an account. Just click on black market and everything u need is available there for a few $$$. Now I undrestand Jason wants to make some money of it and atleast cover the expenses he has. But you always have to keep the players in mind. Not those with $ who shout the hardest but those who have played this game for so long (spending $ or not). I was hoping we can get a discussion going and see where it leads to.

perhaps all this is known and the idea is to suck as much money out of sgw which is the main kingdom game, to furnish enough $$ to bring other kingdom games into play

hell sacrifice 1 game for 4 or 5, would you not think economics ??

basically, we are given more carrots to chase after, when the carrots stop then so will SGW

play for free, thats what I am doing, ill not spend another $ on this game

EDIT

I wont sign up for another kingdom game either, once this one is dead, never again

I'd probably use the past tense in that question....Is SGW dead?

Why do people not play ascension? Because you can destroy someone in seconds.....but they can rebuild completely within days.....ridiculous levels of growth with no skill involved.....

Sounds like main to me....most people just don't realise it, or are unwilling to admit it.

Who here actually plays SGW because they enjoy the game? Or is it more that you want somewhere to pass the time? You enjoy the people and friends you've met here? Its a nice place to hang out?

SGW has become more akin to GW....a forum to hang out on, with the game taking an increasing backseat. Look at the server war....no one even cares what happens ingame anymore....its just about forum rivalries.

The game needs a major revamp before people start drifting away.....atm, its a game people don't realise is dead.....when they realise, the forums will gradually die too.....and by that time it'll be too late to make the necessary changes.....

Well lets be honest here, an account go go from 0 to top notch in less then a few months without $$. its the game mechanics thats the problem, not the $$ sales.

I have used $$, but I don't buy and sale for my own profit. I made back the $$ I put into this game and now just sell resources to buy USS for myself and others as a way to support the game. The one thing I always admired about SGW is the fact anyone could match another weather a $$ supporter or not.

I don't mind him selling duels for $$, not at all. Its the lack of customer support, and the "ball of bandaides" we have now instead of fixing the real issues that makes me lose faith in the integrity of the game.

I see where u comming from trying to raise funds in one server to build others. However what if in that server ur updates are psuhing people away instead of making em stay? lets take a look at some of SGW's history of big spenders who left the game or barely play at all.

EnterTheLion has invested quite a lot and has departed
STI big spender who left
Blahh spent a lot and left

The list goes on for ages but most of them were driven out of the game by updates and such.

Edit: Lore hits the nail right on its head

I don't think that cash spending is as great a problem as a lot of people are making out. There have always been players who have poured their own money into the game. They were here right from the start. Does anybody remember ELUSIVE and the amount of PPTs which he purchased during the first few months? People used to joke that he could have funded the server single-handedly.

Updates might be part of it. I've been one of the most vocal critics of the ruinous changes which were made to the ascension server, and like many others I fear that main is going swiftly down the same route. Jason has tossed us the origins server, but I fear that it's going to be too little too late. Too many players are too deeply entrenched in this game, and have neither the time nor the inclination to start afresh.

Was it the Empires which ruined the game? Perhaps. They certainly weren't healthy. Many people find the idea of an oligopoly extremely unappealing. People complained when the NAPs stifled gameplay, and people continue to complain about how boring the server war is. Yet it was the majority of players who facilitated this decision... joining coalitions and engaging in arms race. Perhaps we're as much to blame as Jason is.

I'd like to think the game isn't dying. We still have a lot of good active players, and we still have something which resembles a sense of community on these forums. But who has the power to make radical change at the eleventh hour? Alliance leaders? Forum admin? Jason?

This last week I've been thinking a lot about my future on this game. I'm not quitting, but I'm not doing nothing either. If we don't want this game to die then we need to think about what we, the playerbase, can do to save it. Because yes, things are going downhill at the moment, and will continue to do so unless we pull our finger out.

Very well said and I agree with it, but for such things to happen you are talking about tearing down empires to get there, breaking NAPs, it would be starting afresh just without losing what you have built on your account.
