Maths Question

I am trying to use a formula given in a game to work out planet population:

P = (Ln (Nbr Flats) x (Nbr Flats)2) + (Nbr Flats)
Where: Ln = Logarithm Neperian

Can anyone tell me what Logarithm Neperian? I can't finish it with out the figure for Ln.

Re: Maths Question

Ln is the logarithm with aprox the base: e=2,71

e^ln(x)=x;

I hope this helps you figure what you`re looking for.

PS: ln is called natural logarithm.

Re: Maths Question

And:

ln*e=1

That's about the only thing I remember. My pre-calc teacher is awful...

Re: Maths Question

There is usually a natural log button on most calculators. It's just log base e as opposed to log base 10.

Re: Maths Question

P = (Ln (220) x (220)2) + (220)
Where: Ln = Logarithm Neperian

P = (Ln (220) x (48,400) + (220)
Where: Ln = Logarithm Neperian

P = (Ln x 10,648,000) + (220)
Where: Ln = Logarithm Neperian

= ???

Can anyone finish that? I have tried but I must be doing something wrong answer doesn't match examples of what it should be close to.

You calculated wrong.
Here`s how you should do it:

IF you meant (220)2 = 220*220 THEN

P = (Ln(220) x 220^2) + 220 <=>
P = (5.39 x 48400) + 220 <=>
P = 260876 + 220 <=>
P = 261096
-----------------------------------------

IF you meant (220)2 = 220*2 THEN
P = (Ln(220) x 220x2) + 220 <=>
P = (5.39 x 440) + 220 <=>
p = 2371.6 + 220 <=>
p = 2591.6

Enjoy.
