Massing?

is why not alot of alliances go mass hapy except a select 3 empires ...

Nah pretty much any of the top alliances have proven themselves in at least one major war, though some have been in more wars than others.

Has anyone ever done a calculation at how many wars they're alliance has participated in since their founding? Would be interesting to see.


Relating to the original question, if their def is 90 bill, be careful with their mothership as well...make sure that your mothership's defense is bigger than their mothership's attack, or plan ahead that their mothership will add strength to their defense when you mass it (so do a 1 turn attack first and see what you need to work on). Also, if they're ascended, be ready that on occasion, they will get ascended blessing which doubles their defense, but usually not that often...then again it can be killer sometimes.

Fleets are not always good for massing, you need shields and weapons on your mothership to protect yours and damage theirs and if they have more than you then they will destroy your fleets pretty fast.

if the enemy doesn't actually have a mothership (either it's so weak it doesn't damage yours or they sent it out on a planet mission) then fleets work really well because they don't require troops and add to your attack power.

You have a few choices, sell up your fleets to avoid them being destroyed, spend a few weeks building up your MS shields and weapons so it's stronger than the enemy MS, send yours out on a planet finding mission when you attack so it doesn't take part in the fight and get your fleets destroyed, try and time your attack so that the enemy has sent theirs out planet hunting.
