Remembering the ANZACs

Just thought it would be appropriate to take this time to make a small gesture in memory of all the ANZACs who fought for this country and many others.

If you're unaware, ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Core.

We lost many thousands in Gallipoli, and many thousands in Vietnam, not to mention the smaller wars.

Real soldiers, going off to real wars in hopes of making our countries safer and protecting us from whatever it was they were fighting against.

Today is ANZAC Day in Australia, a day where we pause to remember those who went off to war and never returned, as well as those who returned unlike the people they were when they left.

At the end of the day, this is just a war game, but I think its important to pay tribute to those who have fallen as a result of the real wars that have gone on and the real lives that have been lost, sometimes seemingly in vein.

Lest we forget. Image

Sir - would it help if I shed a tear
I swear it’s the first time since this time last year
My spine is a tingle - my throat is all dry
As I stand to attention for all those who died

I watch the flag dancing half way down the pole
That damn bugle player sends chills to my soul
I feel the pride and the sorrow - there’s nothing the same
As standing to attention on ANZAC Day

So Sir - on behalf of the young and the free
Will you take a message when you finally do leave
To your mates that are lying from Tobruk to the Somme
The legend of your bravery will always live on

I’ve welcomed Olympians back to our shore
I’ve cheered baggy green caps and watched Wallabies score
But when I watch you marching (Sir) in that parade
I know these are the memories that never will fade

So Sir - on behalf of the young and the free
Will you take a message when you finally do leave
It’s the least we can do (Sir) to repay the debt
We’ll always remember you - Lest We Forget

It's not a matter of luck; it's just a matter of time.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Are they that different? There battles have encompassed entire careers and lives within the game, the most bitter and epic of enemies, neither will leave while the other stands... the ultimate climax, will it ever come?
Who knows. One things for sure, the Freedom Fighter is in it for the long haul, its in her head now,
and she must save the world or die trying.
