Not sure exactly why (commander/officer UP) but

If it was to remove an 'abundance' of uu, make it harder for the accounts above the cap to grow. Then why not simply reduce the UP bonus received from officers.

For example:

Previous: Commanders recieve 15% of their officers total UP when income is set at 30% (1/2)
New: Commanders receive 10% of their officers total UP when income is set 30% (1/3)

In short a loss of 33.3% of current UP received from officers.

Taking a player who has 1,000,000 UP/day, 500k of which comes from his/her officers

Previous UP Bonus: 500k
New UP Bonus: 333k

New UP/day: 833,000
Loss of 167k (16.7%) from total UP.
(The more the player relies on officers for UP, the higher the loss will be, sorry JediMasterX :( )

And if that wasn't enough, it could always just go lower (for example, 1/4 of income percent, i.e. Half of current UP bonus / 250k loss).

Anyway, the complete removal of planets from the equation does hurt newer players (myself) a fair bit. What's the point in the larger players giving away some of their income if they're just going to recieve significantly less in return?

(sorry for creating another thread about this)

The update was intended to stop circles, the co/officer thingy is just a side effect I'm guessing.

I don't think it had anything to do with the over abundance of UU.

this update is utterly ridiculous, i dont care if it stops the UP circles or not, what is does is seriously affect the strategy ive been working at for over a year now! this update has taken 2 mil UU a week from me!! i might as well dump my officers, let them get over farmed and have them quit the game because they cant find anyone to protect them because its not worth it

well done with the update...cant imagine getting it more wrong

Re: Not sure exactly why (commander/officer UP) but

the bulk of the UU I was getting from my officers came from planets, I was getting almost nothing from their raw UP but it was costing me a fortune in naq to keep them. Before the update it was fine, but after the update I was losing a lot but gaining nothing.

This update has ensured that, if you are a medium-large player, unless you have an army of officers then it is unecconomical to have any officers at all. I just don't know where this update came from...........it seems to have been designed to halt the growth of just one player!!!!!!

Re: Not sure exactly why (commander/officer UP) but

Must admit - I don't know where it came from!

I can understand some people's frustration (my UP has dropped by just less than a third!) but the positive long term effect this will have will be to encourage people not to depend on planets, and to actually put some effort into building their UP and hence their account - which ultimately gives them a more stable account.

It will also mean that it is less of a blow if and when a planet is stolen - which can consequently mean that planets might get stolen less.

Yes, it makes some things a bit more difficult and less economical (but only if you don't put in any effort) - but so what? A lot of people would argue that a lot of updates have made this game far too easy, and that it was about time something was brought in to level the playing field.

Re: Not sure exactly why (commander/officer UP) but

its not that i dont see merit in the update, i think that it can perhaps help level some of the playing field over the long term...BUT, what i think youll find is that there are alot of players who cant 'put in any effort' because they have other commitments...so its very hard to make rules collectively. Though id still like updates that didnt take 62.5% of my UP away from me...its a little unfair too when ive gone out and found these officers, spend my time and naq helping them build up and then its taken away so quickly :-( ...ever so sad

what this update also does is disadvantage anyone who dont already have UP planets...for example i spent a fortune on my income planets...and now itll go to waste when i have to switch over to UP (when i hit the cap) and start building UP planets all over again

i know there are alot of other people who have done the same thing too which is unfortunate...are there any ideas on how to make this update a little fairer? just asking??

Re: Not sure exactly why (commander/officer UP) but

:-D

all i can do is that.... not laughing of your losses seinfeldien, i understand u and many will do!..... i laugh of the update, once again an screwed up update is set!
I understand that admins most want that it gets more fair for new players, but i think they did forget that those way up there invested years, time, money and played a lot, and now they screw them.... not fair for them im sure!
I think that when an update is set they think in how to help newcomers to the game, but in this case they didnt think about the side effect to the ones who have been helping their officers, other friends... or those playing long time!
I wonder when will admin admitt this lil mistake and do something, i hope he do soon! Cause i know what u mean when u say u gonna need to get rid of them!
BTW if the idea is to get rid of circles u r way too wrong... instead of having officers wich will give no real proffits, im sure it will be better to get into circles, at least u keep your income and u know the circle members will now work their incomes to get better raw UP... he he he screwed to a point that reverses it all!!!

Help new players? Bloody hell! I was a new player when I joined back in the "not that fair for new players" times and I've never complained about this! Maybe just release an update redistributing "unfair" differences in income and UP so everyone get exactly the same? Ridiculous!
