Maybe someone should sticky one of these merc threads until it has been sorted or at least looked at.
But then again that may make no difference because it seems that people stumble in to the Bugs section with their eyes closed most of the time.

Re: Merc bug?
ADDITIONALLY - each Merc (attack or defence) is paired with a 'super soldier' (attack or defence). This means that you can only have as many attack/def Mercs as you have supers of that type. (plus 10% for each merc level)
BEYOND THIS, NOT ONLY CAN YOU NOT GET MORE, BUT THEY WILL RUN AWAY IF GIVEN THE CHANCE!!! ABOUT 10% OF THE 'OVERLIMIT' WILL DISAPPEAR PER TURN.
this is printed on the merc market page, because regardless of the number of trained units you have you need supers to get trained mercs.
Meaning even if you can have 1 million trained mercs, if you don't have any supers you can't have the trained mercs. It also means that if you lose supers you lose mercs.
However, if this is happening with untrained mercs..........I got nothing.
Hopefully this explains things.

Right I should have a rather high merc control level, instead I have this for quite some time
You can only have 105.00 percent (base of 25 plus 80 percent in upgrades) of your trained troops as mercenaries.
Beyond that, you do not have enough troops loyal to you to ensure compliance to your orders.
You now have:
141777 Trained Mercs.
141972 Trained Military Units.
You can have a maximum of 149,071 Trained Mercs.
ADDITIONALLY - each Merc (attack or defence) is paired with a 'super soldier' (attack or defence). This means that you can only have as many attack/def Mercs as you have supers of that type. (plus 10% for each merc level)
Mercenary Command
Merc Control Level 1
Merc Control Level 2
Merc Control Level 3
Merc Control Level 4
Merc Control Level 5
Merc Control Level 6
Merc Control Level 7
Merc Control Level 8
so in reality I should have a lot more merc capacity or am I reading this thing wrong
It's a total pain when trying to mass someone, especially during the server war so which is true.....a max of 105% or a max of 180% ?????

Re: Merc bug? - ALL MERC BUG DISCUSSION HERE
25% Base + 80% in Upgrades.
So a max of 105%.
141972 Trained Military Units * 1.05 = 149071 Mercs
So it's correct.
Also, I get the "You do not have enough resources to pay" whenever I try to buy more Mercs then I'm allowed.
So a max of 105%.

Re: Merc bug? - ALL MERC BUG DISCUSSION HERE
In this phrase the 'additionaly' means that this is a different limit, and under the proviso of the 105 mercs : 100 trained troops. Both of these constraints apply
For a mathematical reprisentation... The following 3 constraints apply:
no. attack mercs + no. defence mercs < 1.05 * (no. of trained attack + no. of trained defence troops) [excluding mercs]
and
no. attack mercs < 1.8 * no. of attack supers
and
no. def mercs < 1.8 * no. of defence supers
eg. 1
100k attack supers
100k defence supers
Max no. of attack mercs = 180k
eg. 2
100k attack supers
0k defence supers
Max no. of attack mercs = 105k
It is worth knowing that it is only possible to go to this limit with either attack or defence, and somtimes the numbers will chose for you, preventing you buying the maximum number of mercs you would like to have for you're attack or defence.
A little advice is to train enough def troops to allow you to buy the mercs up to the max, and then they can be untrained once the massing is complete, or in the case that somone else starts massing you. However this can be much riskier in a server war, when there are lots of people watching all the time.

The above is NOT true. I checked my max number of mercs i was allowed to have, then i trained some Home Guards (basic defenders) and the number of mercs allowed increased. I then trained those Home Guards to Super Guards and the max merc number stayed the same. Therefore the above statement that says you need to have them as 'Supers' is incorrect.

you need to have the guards as supers to hold the mercs, but not to have them available.

Re: Merc bug? - ALL MERC BUG DISCUSSION HERE
No guys. If you want def mercs, you need def supers. Same for strike.
ex.
55% merc control
1000000 super off
100000 super def
you can have Around 550000off and 55000def, but NOT 550000def and 55000off.

Re: Merc bug? - ALL MERC BUG DISCUSSION HERE
As i said earlier they do not need to be supers. I had my mercs at max limit of 105%. I attempted to purchase 100 more and it did not let me. I then trained approx 7700 home guards then I was able to purchase approx 8000 more mercs. i did not need to turn those Home Guards in to Supers.
Also, let's do the maths here....
0 Home Guards
8,000,000 Def Supers
At a merc level of 8 which means you can have 105% mercs, then 105% of 8m Def Supers would mean you are only allowed to have 8,400,000 Defence Mercs.... however I can have at least 8,665,000.
I have Super Soldiers, and only a handful of Attack Mercs, this means that I am able to hold more Def Mercs because of the Super Soldiers as well.

Re: Merc bug? - ALL MERC BUG DISCUSSION HERE
Almost good math :]
merc control: lvl 8 = 105% (80%bonus)
If you have:
100k def supers -> can buy max 105% mercs -> 105k mercs
100k supers + 80k normal (or more) -> you can buy max 180% of supers -> 180k mercs
Same in attack.
BUT if you have supers in def AND in attack and buying ONLY def OR attack mercs then you can buy more (merc limit counted for total army, not separate attack/def).
