Re: LAG!!!
perhaps those who are having the longer times should try a tracert to the SGW servers?
Perhaps it could be based on location and routes your ISP shove you through...

It took me 13 hops to reach the SGW server from the UK
I did not include the first 5 hops as the connections where all under 25ms, this is where the connection leaves the UK heading state side, the connection from here to there is fine.

My guessing sttlwa is Seattle Washington, so it bounces from east to west coast then up to SGW servers, all in all, its a good round trip of at least 10-12 thousand miles, across 3 countries.
The issue lies elsewhere, it could be possible traffic on the networks/nodes on the state side as the day goes on, considering that its only 11am EST and earlier the further west u go, pre update my lag time on turn change was no more than 20-30 seconds max, making turn farming easy, now i cant even get the page to load within 90 seconds, by that time ive been hit multiply times......
Deep within Noob Cave, you find a strange pool filled with a glowing blue liquid. You think back to what your mother told you about unfamiliar liquids found in caves.
You're pretty sure she said "Drink it! What's the worst that can happen?"

Re: LAG!!!
Hmm, no posting with the last five days. Perhaps this is a problem that not a lot of people have noticed? right now it is starting to act up again, and I think I have narrowed the reason down. It has nothing to do with the standard internet connection since I just ran a traceroute and was at about 150 ms.
What might be interesting is if we started posting the in game time, and how many peoples are on. I thin it is load issues on the server itself. Maybe even some throttling or whatever on there part.
It's feeling sluggish now at/with:
GameTime: Sep07 - 11:18.56
545 Players On!

Re: LAG!!!
Another question.
as soon as I open the chat window, my processor jumps up over 50% and stays there.
I have a
AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+
2.91 GHz, 2 GB RAM
etc
this computer is not the best, but fast enough for what I do
windows XP 2005 i think
how would I keep my processor from jumping up that high or do i not need to worry about it?

Re: LAG!!!
I also note that while the lag is horrible all the time, when I am being massed, its signifigantly worse, so much so that repairing is impossible because even with crit/nox and tabs I can't repair in the time allowed between hits. Also my return fire is limited to about 3 hits per minute or every 20 seconds at best, many times its just 2 hits per minute.

Age old saying that, "Dont bring a knife to a gun fight"
Reason, youll get dead.
