Yes well i think this is where the real problem starts.
Identifying the problems is already a good step forward but let's be honest with each other.

Most of the worlds population are lazy bums who don't really like doing anything other than complain every now and then (even if the complaints sometimes are actually justified, although not always).
So the chance of the players actually doing anything as a community is rather slim, unless the players would get some ingame ability to enforce certain behavior (dunno something like a community voted in council/tribunal receiving special privileges ingame in order to punish those who we want to "fix" or change or be done with).

Other than that as stated the other half of the problem are certain sucky updates. Admin fixing them, has a much higher chance of happening than the problems that are caused by the players themselves to be solved by the community.

Anyone able to find flaws in my reasoning? I'll welcome constructive criticism

just one, what can anyone do to "punish/enforce" anything? Thats kinna why we are were we are now?

well, its quite simple, for players, to "punish/enforce" we can mass them, returning the favor for the small player they bullied/extorted/whatever else you can think of, for admin, perhaps a restriction of the use of any of the market features for a predetermined amount of time decided by, who else, the admin

as for identifying the bullies, threads, lists of known ones now so players can do something about them, but the rules for the thread have to include the whole story

also, the updates, players, use the forums, post polls on current updates to the game, like 'em hate 'em or just dont give a damn, and admin, listen to the polls, popular opinion is a powerful thing, a majority vote really, but not only the polls, but game suggestion threads, they do need to be read too, listening to those ideas in there to improve the game or improve upon the already in place updates

Re: Is SGW dying?

lol, nothing is gonna change. Enforced play styles? Are you guys nuts, the problem is it's too easy to get stats from planets leading to easy massings and massive recovery rates. Remove planets and we have a good basis for a better game, but it's NEVER going to happen as proven by the fact we can now BUY dual planets.

Just give it up people, this horse is dead, it was dead a long time ago, no one wants to give up their planets for the good of the game, jason doesn't want to remove them.

He would rather release Origins than fix sgw, sad but true.

Enforced play styles would help, and no, were not nuts...at least, I don't think we are
But indeed, planets are part of the problem but removing them is not the solution

Step 2 is fixing the problem, we've proposed solutions, now its time to act on them

Re: Is SGW dying?

and that is why they upset the game so much they are bonuses but at little to no cost to the owner I mean really people can have these massive strikes but their actual strike is only closer to 1-200 bil and when they attack or mass people they dont lose all that many SS because its all in planets and now its doubly hard for the small/new player who gets caught in the crossfire because people fight over these ridiculously overpowered planets and someone beacons and abandons it and some newb finds it and starts to grow his account faster then the bigger guy comes across and takes his planet back and the newer player isn't used to functioning without the planet thus causing a huge drawback in the way he plays the game thus reducing the skill and strategy even more and its an ongoing cycle until you get to the end result which is now when the game is considered dead because of the supposed improvements and while some are useful and others don't make that big a deal planets just spiraled the game.........

with that said I just came back after being away for a number of months and my account wasnt on vac mode and I rebuilt with just what was in my bank after hopping on a PPT real skill there  I dont have planets anymore either it was simply what was in my bank so no I dont think the game is dead I think it just needs a serious overhaul and I just dont have any idea on what to take out or what to fix simply because I play the game simply as it comes I learn the new aspect and thats that I mean not much else to do at this point

Re: Is SGW dying?

false, very false

covert planets can be very useful during wars if build up correctly, but def planets are most worthless of all. Cost around 30-50% more than strike planets plus even after paying 50% more than what an attacker needs to spend, you can only protect one person and even then you can cut back on the benefit of those strike planets at best.

meaning you get massed and loose 10 mil supers and the attacker instead of loosing 1 mil, looses 4-5 mil.
sounds still too screwed up to me

Depends on how big the defense planets are...I've seen people with 800 bill defenses, 700 bill from planets. When built fully, defense planets can be very painful to the attacker.
