Nox and Realm Alert Level

Ok,

Not really a Newb anymore, been through a massing or two and have ascended once. What I'd like to know is how much does the Nox insurance and maxed alert level actually help against an attack? I know you don't get any G&R on Nox unless you are in the top .02% but what are the other benefits? I have hit people on Nox before and it didn't seem to change anything except the wait time between attacks? And if you have both the Nox and a maxed alert level, does that benefit and what ARE the benefits. Read the help guide but am still confused.

Nox - this make there massing slow and time consumeing and sometimes they will give up you only need this if you are at war.

Alert Level - This increase covert so they cannot see what you h\ve but only by a bit it also helps when you are being ACed.
- when you are going away for long periods of time like 8 hours or more and have a high income put alert level it decrease your income alot so there is less chance of you being hit while away.

Also when on nox crit you can only be hit by 600 ATs (40x15turn attacks) then you will be 'phased out of reality' till the turn change, which basically means no one can hit you and you cant hit anyone till you become in-phased.
