Whether/weather?

Whether/weather?

I need to be confirmed (or not?).
When you use "weather", it's for anything related to rain, wind, etc...
When you use "whether", it's a different way of saying "if" under certain circumstances.

I see people using the first for the latter. Am I right to find it wrong, or am I not?
