PPT the coward way?

My self I call it a tactic, I've had this problem a few times:

Massing someone, staying off ppt for a few hours then... a message:

Subject:

Message text:

**Filtered** hide on ppt

The question is, is PPT the cowards or the smart way....

If you were busy that day and were going out? and your income is to big for your defence so your sitting and critical and nox..

The most effective players are those that make the best use of their environment and the features available to them. PPT is a useful tactic for a number of obvious reasons which I won't bother listing. People that choose to disdain it, usually through some bizarre self-developed honor code, usually won't be getting the most out of their game and occasionally suffer for it.

Re: PPT the coward way?

PPT when getting massed is cowardly.
PPT on a regular schedule is just life.

Never could understand why people send their MS away or jump on PPT, especially when everyone claims there's an overabundance of resources.

Just because there are a lot of resources around, it doesn't mean I'm about to start throwing them away for the fun of it. If I can somehow avoid the risk of taking unnecessary damage, and inconvenience my opponent in the process, then I'll grab it with both hands.

+1

if you're not ready/prepared to be massed when it's happening, there's nothing wrong with hitting a ppt to turn the tides when you're ready.

Also being online to defend a massing means you get to kill even more of the enemy :p If you know you're going to be away, you're just making the massing for them cheaper

I've suddenly decided for no real reason that using merlins is cowardly.

Re: PPT the coward way?

I thought this debate had been settled years ago.....

Pretty much the only time it is cowardly is if you've agreed to have an online 1vs1 battle with no ppt, and then jumped onto it because you were getting whipped.

Otherwise, it is a tactic. And a very effective one at that. It can allow you to maintain a large strike from being sabbed away whilst your offline. It can safe your def mid-massing. It can hide all your planets cheaper than merlins. It can give you your full income without need of a def. And most important of all, it can give you days away from your comp without having to worry about a game.

As Greg said, if anyone turns their nose up at ppt then they're not using every tactic of the game.....

EDIT:

Indeed. Not letting someone steal your planets? That's definitely the coward's way out
