More alliances have sprung forth from pergatory.
Lets not surprise them with updates for pergatory none pergatory players suggested.
Seriously, when have you last played pergatory :o ?

Out of curiosity, Admins, how many long term pergatory players log in daily and play gatewars ?.

Purg players tend not to visit the main forum. And I have this from a number of them. The reason being they are VERY much discriminated and made fun of when they do visit as being 'purg hiders' when some of them aren't at all. So it's easier just not to visit and fly under the radar as it is. Especially if you are a longer term member of purg, and not just a visitor there, who might be rightly called a purg hider.

As far as i recall anyway Purgatory was meant for noobs in the first place, not hiders or people that dont have time for a game. So why shouldnt it be enforced for that purpose again? At the very least anyway.

Excactly, there are quite a few pergatory players, whatever their reasons may be.
I believe we should keep this in mind and not simply enforce a complete overhaul of how pergatory is entered and when its enforced to enter or leave.

In my previous alliance, we occasionally had applicatants who came from pergatory, as most of them wwere forced out by an update. I'm not saying it was bad, but there as well, choices and suggestions made by none perg players affected many people whom had no say in it how their daily gaming was effected by players who generally discriminate them as low class players.

I believe there are quite a few n00bs there atm, also some hiders ofc. But I would like to think that the majority is there for other reasons:
Lack of tkime
Higher learning curve
Sick of mass monsters in main
etc
etc

If we enforce something to a group whom are satisfied with their way of playing, and it would suddenly force them to become part of something they do not desire, they might leave ?
We might in effect cause the direct opposite of what the thoughts are behind this revamp.
The few n00by players in perg might not feel enticed to stay when updates are done they do not like or prefer .......

I would have to agree with you there, however the perg proposition will cover noobs up to a point where they will understand most of the game and hopefully not piss off alliances. Random massings happen to many people, if not its usually a cause of screwing up somewhere along the line.
So if they decide after their time in perg (3-6 months) that they would leave the game because they got massed then they shouldnt even be in the game then, it happens to everyone. Perg would be a one way system, if not there would be a heavily restriction for older players if they went in there.
Higher learning curve how?
and if they dont have time they should vac or just drop ranks and ppt. Its what its there for.

Re: Revamping Pergatory

i actually think pergatory is a great resource pool for new players to learn how to ggather farms and Raid , teaches them the values of how the game works , the only thing i dislike is the 60 at's per person per day thing at least lift it to 120?

i dont see any problems with perg theres not very many active perg players and if there is there arnt any sizeable stats to be destroyed.

With higher learning curve I meant people who do not learn the basics of game as quick as many other players do, and dabble longer in doing whatever they find amusing there, taking anywhere from a few weeks to years.

If a part of the idea is to prevent people hiding in pergatory, why not do something as simple as higher fee to enter it ?
examples:
Covert level reduced to a max allowed level for perg. (ie max 25)
Ascension level reduced to a max allowed ascension level for perg (ie LG)

Also I think that only a small % of all the players play as active as the top 500. (or somewhere around that)
I believe that many players played this game for longer time, but half arsed, not having enough intrest and from those I've seen players 'returning' from playing semi active followed by inactiveness, to suddenly become hyper active and worthy additions as good players.

Anywaysz, it was food for thought to be considerate with the people already actively playing pergatory.

I'm still curious as to the figures which might indicate the active long term players for pergatory. Can any admin help out on that ?

You mean 4 farm hits ?

I'm not sure on that one though, as they would require other things that neeed naq too.
And 25 was a mere example, if 26 or 27 would fit better, then it should be that ofc.

It would hardly effect what realm they were in then.

Considering perg was never meant for hiders, why should we bend towards them again when we can just force it to be how it was supposed to be.

If they were active and cared about the game one would think they would come to the forum, sooo none?

Re: Revamping Pergatory

I like Robe's ideas a lot.

Unread post Revamping Pergatory
Forum said he has been thinking of starting a new server for new players at recent Admin meetings.

Several players suggested he should revamp Purgatory instead and I happen to agree.

Some of my suggestions would be:

All new players start off in Purgatory for 30 days until they get a handle on the game.

During this time they are not be able to be attacked or trade with players in main.
They should get added bonuses to help them start off such as double bank size and AT.
Once they have been playing > 30 days they would auto graduate to the main realm.

No player should be able to elect to go to Purgatory to hide.

If a player is descended then they should be sent to Purgatory for 30 days.

What are your suggestions for revamping Purgatory?
