Similarly, I believe that people in general are inherently flawed. Deep down, we are programmed to hurt one another; either physically or emotionally. People are naturally selfish and greedy; governed more by bestial urges than common sense or ethics. Society is a terrible thing, too. The more supposedly civilized we become, the more immorality and decadence become the main staple of our daily diet.
Before Lost concluded, my main flippant excuse for not killing myself was that I wanted to know how it ended. I will get back to you with a new one when I find it.

Not the type of bankers we've had the past 10 years or so.

The way I take it is Britain invested in a private corp and lost. They are now pissed and want Iceland to pay back all the money. If you invested in the stock market, then lost everything, would you be trying to make your government pay back everything you lost?
Just my .02
Also I haven't read into this matter at all and took it at face value for this post, so I could totally be wrong here.

Re: Something to think about
So this was one bank, owned by icelandic bankers.
We have hundreds of examples of cases like this all over the world. In 0 cases the government of the country the owners originally came from, payed anything.
It's UK's fault for not keeping an eye on what's going on, on THEIR own turf.
A government, or tax-payers, are NOT responsible for people that move OUT of the country and have become legal citizens elsewhere. If they invest your money and loose it - it's your fault.
There are many cases where banks simply close, completely broke. And lots of people loose a lot of money.
Cry me a river, Britain.

Iceland is beautiful, I would very much like to move there.
Plus, I can't see it being too much colder than our canadian winters

Actually Canada is colder then Iceland.
And many states in US suffer far colder and harsher winters then we do.
Remember, the vikings probably did it to confuse you
Iceland = Green
Greenland = Ice
lol
But yeah extremely beautiful here . Your all welcome! First round is on me.

If we had the GeoThermal advantages of Iceland we would have.....how much more $$ in North America to divert into our economic security? Probably hundreds of billions in USD.
Not knocking Iceland here, just saying. We have all the breeders here too in North America. They can't afford 1 unplanned child so to retaliate against 'the establishment' they make sure they have 4+ minimum unplanned/unwanted children.
Move Iceland next to Mexico GL keeping droves of the peaceful liberty seeking freeloaders out. Iceland wouldn't last a month with that kind of a parasitic neighbor.

Re: Something to think about
Actually my post was not about disrespecting anyone, I was just pointing out if you'd visit Iceland you wouldn't freeze to death like many people seam to believe. But we're now discussing the economical situation and claimed lawsuit against UK. (Gordon Brown's government) http://news.sky.com/story/1041936/icela ... ver-crisis
I love my country but I agree, our small nation would not do so great with a neighbor like that. Specially considering the fact that we have no previous experience since we've always been an island, obviously. I doubt many countries would know how to handle themselves with 100 volcano's around them. Not many nations know as much about volanco's as we do. (I believe Americans have used advice from Iceland when dealing with one, in the past)
So that's just a given fact. Experience is so important here, doesn't matter if we're discussing economics or difficult neighbors etc. So I agree with you completely, so no offense taken as none was given, really.
