2. Give to another Zoo who has offered to take it ?

3. Shoot it in the head and feed it to the lions ?

Unbelievably a Danish Zoo took the 3rd option.

Personally I would have raced it.

This giraffe was too inbred and the zoo in question was apart of the captive breeding program and giraffe's are declining in population. This means they need to breed the genetically diverse studs so they have a much better chance of survival when re introduced into the wild. Although it got offers from zoo's and people, they were not apart of (eaza) Europe association of zoos and aquaria.

Another option for the giraffe is contraceptives but they come with a risk and was not worth it.

At the end of the day it was done because of biodiversity.
