You can think what you want of Hammonds comment, but one part was correct. "What your asking will never happen." It's too bad that you didn't know about it, but it was something planned from the beginning, and it's going to happen. So your best bet is to stop encouraging people to descend you by repeating your preference for something that will not happen.

Also, you could always just change your name in ascended and just ignore it, and hope that nobody has kept a record of your ID #.

Can we get this thread back on track for those who are actually interested and playing ascension. What do we want to see?.
We have heard the arguements about the fact that soime players think it unfair to loose bonuses on descension and I have made the suggestion that instead of playing they could be offered some sort of mortal bonuses to leave those who actually want to play

I have said that I would like to see the Following
Duel- One on one attacks with the looser descended
Rank Modifier using Life Force
Mortal Bonuses- For players wishing not to ascend but who wish to use GR Points for something else. The should be lower than ascended bonuses as a recognition of the extyra effort to ascend.

Lets not Whinge about what we don't want and actually say what we would like to see. Help the Forum out Guys

Perhaps a persons desire to keep the main bonuses without playing ascension can be done.. But I believe there should be a penalty for doing so, like you voluntarily descend yourself and your bonus is cut in half. So 6 ascensions gets you only +15%, and after that only 1/2% every ascension after that vice +30% and +1%.

i think most people want a more permenant effect from descention cos there a bit let down by what forum has suggested.

what forum has suggested maybe perfect for the game. but a lot of people expected descention to follow what happens in SG-1, that is you lose everything. i mean logically thinking when you ascend you are left with a shell account that has nothing. you lose all covert lvls, up , weapons, trained units, the lot. so it does not make sence that when you are descended you get to keep everything and you just lose your bonus for a few weeks.

in sg-1 danel was descended and lost EVERYTHING, he was left on some random planet with not even the knowledge of who he was.
if it followed forums suggestion he would have been put there with most of his clothes and memorys and then after a month he remembers the rest and goes home and gets everything back.

i just think its not enough. but on the other side losing evething would be to much. so that is why i want to see the loss of one lvl of ascention once the month of no bonuses is up as a good compromise. and of course vacation must be linked to main for any of this to work at all.

I would agree that decension should have some permanent effects on main.
It would be interersting to see what sort of mark of shame occurs on Main server

What type of effects like completely wiping out someones account on main if they get descended, then ull have an ascention server with 200 people in it, and no one will want to ascend anymore. The admin has a server which serves no purpose really.

I don't really like it because it sounds like there is now absolutely no reason to ascend.

First, we lose all ascended bonus from our main account, but this is too much because ascended weapons are already much worse than main weapons. At the very least, we should regain the bonuses of our main race we ascended from (go'auld for system lords, asguard for ancients etc). This will mean we still lose alot but descension will not be worse than never ascending in the first place.

1) Forum invented a new chalenge for top players. Start from fresh in main and have the privilage to play an exclusive and competitive server
2) ppl start using this privilege to boost their main account and nothing else
3) the ascension server get borring so more and more ppl forget about it

There is a new update to give life back to ascension

Now you want to have the bonuses without the ascension server which was the center of the original idea about ascension? Basically you wanna keep the beautiful carpet for the entrance without the house and the ppl living in it.

You missed step 4. Newer players only hear about ascension as a rank boosting server.

then if this is going to affect main account why not put all the other stuff that should affect main account also...charisma for a uu bonus to main and production capacity for naq bonus in main plus realm covert and anti covert bonuses in main??? If your gonna change main account because of ascended server than change it all!!!

Page 5. While I Like that, Itd be one more case of 'teh powerful evils will reap all teh rewardsw'. I understand the whole rank dynamic, those that played well and good for a long time (or cheated and didnt get caught in a few cases...) are able to do a lot more. At the same time, whats the point of anything from Ascendding if it can be lost and has minimal affect.

Well, after thinking about it, wouldn't it be nice to have everything in ascension working before bringing in descension?
Let people play around and experience the game at its fullest before making it possible to descend people would make it more fun to work on building an account.

the reason i have ascended was for the main advantages, I play ascended everyday. They are two different realms.

My understanding was that gaining access to the ascended server was a reward for doing well in main- thats how it was 'sold' to us from the start.
You work hard, stay in the top 100ish long enough and accumulate enough g&r - then you choose if you want to (re)ascend.

Yes, we knew decension was coming (most anyway), and now we know was specifics might be involved. I know it's not part of what is being suggested by forum but I really don't like the idea of your ascended realm being able to affect your main realm in any other way than g&r/[re]ascending and decension (generally the way proposed by forum) - I think the suggestions regarding vac mode should be treated separately to the update suggestion - I really believe the majority opinion so far is representative of the minority overall.
There is a possibility of ruining the game for many people - if someone has worked hard enough, they deserve the bonuses as much as anyone else.

Are there future updates planned that will affect both realms?
If so, then it's a move away from the original idea and concept of asc., and imho (and prob only mine) it's a bad idea.

my ascended account has been on vac mode since my 5th ascension, and TGW main is now the only mmorpg i play (at all, once i played all 4 servers here and a number of others). i am much calmer and happier because of it too. For ages ascension had just been about logging in to spend DMU and life-force, and was quite a chore really. i don't like the idea of having to do it again (which isn't really playing after all) just to keep my main account as it is. the time and resources invested in ascending are more than worth the bonuses by themselves.

it also strikes me that the reason most people want this connected to main is that there are accounts they want to descend, but they can't because there hiding behind vac mode. perhaps an active account could 'engulf' one on vacation, temporarily inducing the effects of descension until the player logs back in. it would enable some people to pootle along in ascension without ambition (well, sleep), but not if there at war with another ascended being where it could naturally spill over in to the other server.

edit: i don't want to lose the option to play in the ascended server if i choose to of course, i just dont have space in my brain right now. my gaming madness ebbs and flows.

Just to point out when the very first people ascended there was no mention of descension even existing, and i really dont give a stuff what others have to say. leaks are not offical.

Forum can go along with the idea of "temporary descension" if he desires, but there will be literally no incentive to utilize it anyways. People like myself have worked hard on our accounts to keep ourselves from being descended and losing all our benfeits? What the heck is the point of the ascended server if it becomes just like main, where you cant really ever be defeated?

Just because you worked hard in ascension doesnt mean you should be able to kill lots of other people.. and like I said before.. you were not one of the first to ascend crimson, we had no idea there would even be desension and back then it was not as easy as it is now, it cost a hell of alot.

I say NO, to permament effects of deascension on main. One month no bonuses is hard enought, as a month is a long time to play. IF you lost one ascension level, many priors would lose ascended powers all together.

As for the shame mark on main, you would have something like "Descended Ascended" or something more poetic.

Those in ascension only for Main bonuses should be allowed to leave to become mortal once again. They will have to loose Ascended Bonuses if they do so and a new form of mortal bonuses could be devised for the GR Points.

If you play ascended you should have the ability of getting improved bonuses relative to the Mortal one because of the risks involved and the effort. I personally would like to see improved techologies in Main from investment in Life force.

This would encourage people to actually play ascended risks higher but also bigger benefits. If you don't want to play stick with Mortal Bonuses.

Instead of everyone saying what they don't want just try to be a bit more creative in what you would aspire to instead.

P.S Can everyone stop getting quite so hot under the collar and listen to each other

I also say NO to the permanent efects, 1 month is a lot of time, even if I think descencion should cost u 1 ascencion bonuses, but

And the battle 1 on 1 shouldnt last till some1 is descended, it should last for x(set by forum) days and after those days if no1 is descended, nothing happened

I would like to see, that the attacker should chalenge the oponent and give him 24 hours (to prepare for the battle) and then they should fight for x days

Thats not too bad....... but since you still went thru all that work in main to ascend, I think main should be left like it is. Have the ascended server be just that, the server people unlock when they ascend in the main server.

Deascending should affect the ascended server by locking you out followed by a PPT.

How about this as an idea?

Current Bonuses kept. G&R and resources will still generate normal ascended type bonuses. However given option to remain on mortal plane only. If you choose to do that then bonuses effectively protected from loss but you would not get a place in the realm of the ascended.

If you choose to go into ascended server then you can gain extra Ascended only bonuses using Life force Perhaps in the Cosmic Trade area. You have increased risks as if you deascend then you would temporarily loose you bonuses ( or perhaps more permanent). However the risk is offset by the benefits of extra weapons, MS, spy technologies gained in Cosmic Trade.

Effectively those who want to keep those current bonuses would not loose out. However those willing to put in extra effort and accept the risk of being ascended would gain more benefits in the long run which might encourage more people to actually play the game.

one month losing 100% of your ascended bonuses, is more then enough of a punishment

the lose 5% bonus thing is really problematic for the priors

i also think, that losing the boost for a month is very easy for forum to code and not very open for bugs

but some of the other ideas would be rampant with bugs possibly if the past is any indicator

Afterall, the people that arnt ascended yet still might, and those that are...... well majority dont use this fourm.
