admin just want you to know that however i might have come across, i never ever ever even once considered this to be your fault bad folk exist in the world, whether you are a great guy or not has nothing to do with that at all

it does stick in throat that these "hackers" have been allowed to continue, especially because no matter how much they say they have helped you resolve the issues they created, i do not believe that these characters have an ounce of decency within them, benevolent, yes. Someone, maybe Nasedo, said elsewhere.. if they were simply testing for exploits to better the game, why inflict so much havoc on the game? Using an exploit to gain 1 Naquada is alsmost the same as exploiting 100 million Naquada, only difference is that exploiting 1 Naquada is a very good way of testing bugs and exploiting 100 million Naquada is a very good way to cheat (and not a good way to test a bug). In my opinion, it is not even a fine line, it is a very very distinguished line between "test" and "exploit".

Goo has to agree with what people are saying, maybe the time has come to get harder and make a couple of examples out of people? Ban them, they knew the risks when they signed up, as we all do.

However Goo will also respect your decision Admin because he knows you to be a man of honour

I have been reading of this situation and agree with Forums explanantions for the punishment of the Hackers and thoose who legally looted naq. I applaud Admin for a relativly quick and decisive fix to the game

I appreciate all of the work that you have put into this Forum, but it does seem like elusive should be moved as well. I mean it sounds like he did the same thing as phil and cheesemaker... saw someone with a lot of $$$ and took it. Both of them, and I would guess others as well, have been moved down in the rankings. It just seems like the fair thing to do would be to move him down as well. Assuming nothing changes, what he has gained, may have put him out of reach. Just a thought.

I have the same wish that the 'test' was with 1 Naq......but it is done.
Whether test or exploit - account still reset... and we now have a 'site friend' who is skilled with exploits so that any that can be found, are fixed before exploited...
I have also spoken on the "1 versus 1,000,000" topic with them, so that will not happen again....
it is very unfortunately that the major damage was not done directly by hack, but by folks attacking Naq off the hacker then attacking in turn...

Overall, I agree with you Goo.... but also need/choose to keep the folk with skills to exploit the game on our side so that the 'real' enemies have a tougher force to contend with!! Be sure though -- ANY malicious attacks will result in 100% ban (via IP / ISP) ... now that my own house is in order

Don't you think that by banning the Ip or ISP, you might find yourself bannig more than just one player???

I work for the abuse dept. of Canada's Biggest ISP and I see these kinds of issues where good ppl get ban because of bad ppl.

Banning the ip and or ISP will turn down the little guys but believe me, if one guy wants you, he will do whatever he can to get you, even if that encounters changing of ISP. I know, I deal with cases like this on daily basis.

I hope I did not bust any good ideas of your part though, was not intentional

Don't you think that by banning the Ip or ISP, you might find yourself bannig more than just one player???

Well AS we all know I believe, there is no fail proof way to ban someone. Like I said, if they want you, they will make a living nightmare for you but hopefully we are not facing this here.

I'll shot some point that I think might or might not work but if anyone as better idea to help, don't be shy.


Normally we look for uniq Id that rarely changes from a user, Some ppl thinks that the mac address is one thing, but you would just have to change your nic or change of pc and problem solved.

You could go by credit card verification, but then , I guess that not every player has a credit card

Or maybe I have a better Idea, when you create an account, every player has to provide a valid email address so you can send confirmation of the account. than you put the account in a suspended state until you, (or a script) can run along a try to match the incoming email ip address with a list of know ip addresses know to have cause trouble or to have be used by cheaters before. If it does match, well the account does not activate. But then, if it does not match any ip or domain, you good to go.
I know this sound like IP /ISP ban but the difference is that then, when you have a match, you could have a more rough registration process, kind of a license agreement thing. Something that would resign the user from hacking attemps

Thats how far the ideas I have in mind.

As for the ISP they can only goes as far of the informatin they have to ban someone, but yet again, when that info changes, its all starting back to 0

I just have to wonder, if you see some masked guy coming out of your local bank, alarms wailing, carrying a fat suitcase full of money, and he hands it to you, would you be running off to the nearest store to spend it? From the looks of your posts around here you would, though I doubt in real life you would be that stupid.

Millions of naquadah don't just build up in days. You can't fool me in saying you didn't have the slightest notion something fishy was going on. So don't give me that "it's not fair to take it back" crap, just be glad you didn't get your account totally reset or even banned.

As for multi'es -- I am creating a preventative system, automated, so that the problem goes away for everyone, for all time.... I can try and chase down the individuals that are obvious, but think time better spent doing it right, once, and for all

There are some people with other family members playing the game, i.e. brothers/sisters, using the same computers, how will this effect them?

I am disgusted to read up on the comments that the3rdlibra made in the general forums, I would prefer it if you kept these comments to yourself, if my intentions were not good then I would not have reported these bugs.

Whether or not someone spotted my actions before I got to report them is questionable, because as soon as I had found the bug I sent an email to the Admin.

Not only this but if my intentions were bad then I would not have helped amin find a further 17 bugs in the game.

So please every one, if you have bad comments or remarks to make, keep them to yourselves, like guest said on one forum , it is better to have me on your side, than to have me as your enemy.

I dont understand, basically this is whats happended.

A robber broke into a bunch of houses and stole stuff, the cops are closing in on him so he decides to give himself up and tell the cops where he hid everything.

Does this make him any less of a criminal?

You exploited the game, If Forum wants to think otherwise thats his perogative BUT as I said before, Why where you and your friend using the same "test method"? why did you give your self MILLIONS of Naq instead of just 100? It would have shown the same bug?

Forum has chosen to keep you here and thats his dession but in no way should you expect to be respected by the rest of the community for the mess YOU created! Ask ELUSIVE how he feels about this matter, he will lose his top spot and is considering leaving the game all because of what YOU did.

as much as i hate the narcissistic connotations of self-quotation.

there... two more fancy words i may have type-o'd Sleipnir, i'm just so glad i give you something to learn, and yes.. on checking my spelling it is a prerogative, however i find that rolls of the tongue in a manner i am uncomfortable with so being English, in true English form i can change the laws of the language however and when ever the prerogative takes me "i" before "e" except after "c" (or when some smart ass decides to change the flippin' rules for no apparent reason...).
