i think psi brought up a very interesting point about honer ingame, how can someone has honor and such if he/she is protecting and aiding ppl that doesnt have any honor?

like a lot of the newish CoP members, mainly in training alliance yes, like just b4 the war i had someone that tried to take a planet from me and then demanded naq to let it go, lol, (by the way that was my answer, "lol") and he went to a lot of ta members trying to do the same, ofc noone listened, but he tried to protect himself with the alpha tag in this case, (but there were others like in dde and dde2 )

thats is mainly why this war is all about, a lot of ppl went to cops and thought they could do whatever they want cause their alliance tags protected them, and with it some decent and respectable players, so now tnx etl but no tnx the war is on and will continue, i speak for myself here, but i know the ta want the war to continue aswell

From the perspective of a TA member from the time of the Order vs. EPA war, I must concur with homer. We had just switched to a new forum (with cool games) with a website I believe called taurialliance.com (no longer running as it was formed by opticallove who left shortly after forming it). This was done in the beginning of June -- I know since I had just finished my semester, but was staying at school to prepare for generals and the games on there helped me get through a tough couple weeks. Note that the EPA went to war with the Order in the first week or two of June as well. During this time Wolf was on our forum joking around with us and asking us to vote for him for I believe race mod with NOT A SINGLE WORD about asking us to help the EPA.

Of course there's no proof of this as the forum was dismantled along with the website when opticallove's lease of the domain ran out, but it is the truth...a truth I have been saying for two years even though noone ever listens.

Now can we please get back to the topic at hand and not focus on old differences between our alliances?

Firstly I must say that I have been short with a few people I'm not normally with. For that I apologise, but when you are in pain 24/7, hell just sitting at a PC causes me pain, the normal tolerance goes out the window.

Secondly, I would like to see some honour returned to the game. People reject ideas just because of who posts them. People allow and defend dishonourable things just because of their affiliations. I am talking about exploiting and cheating here. I have it on record that there are many on the side of the CIA who have privately expressed reservations in the past about some of their current allies. Have the courage of your convictions, if you feel someone has done wrong, then do something about it. Reject them. (This isn't directed at any particular individuals, but just something I've noticed) It greatly reminds me of the whole nebulator issue, which is not a proud moment for this community.

Now people, especially the ones who did nothing and never even HAD the power to do anything talk so much on the forums about how great the war is. It's pathetic, this war is basically farming each other and last time I checked farming is not real war.

I received an amusing pm from a TA guy today:

It made me laugh because let's be honest here, the TA have been Omega's **Filtered** for the last year..and frankly one on one will continue to be so long into the future. I would advise all alliance leaders to control their members, because there will come a time when their alliances will be facing their enemies one on on, without any back up..and such taunts will be remembered.

On the flip side some of the enemy have earned my respect. Blahh for one, the guy who came closest to taking my defence. He failed due to me using the naq to get AC, but he got decently close. You don't see him going around talking stuff. Use that as an example. Take your blows and give them, but don't come on here boasting about a war when you personally could never have hoped to do anything about. The 'all talk and *modded* all done' type of guys who have been posting lately <nani?> me off!

Finally I would like to congratulate the members of the OSLA, who have truly shown the spirit of Omega. Attacked unprovoked at the beginning just because they had the Omega tag, they have responded magnificently and have actually grown through the war. You all have truly earned your place in the Omegan family.

To the rest of Omega, I am proud of all of you. Your dedication to war has demonstrated why Omega are the greatest alliance this game has ever seen. I'm sure some of you are bored with the whole war, as many on both sides are, but there is not a single dissenting person in Omega who is not willing to put their account on the line.

To those who have left due to outside commitments, you know you always have a family to return to. And then I would like to address this issue of threatening players to continue war or be massed. This is an offer to all players on both sides. Join the neutral alliances like STI's if you wish to remove yourselves from the war. And after this is done, you will have MY WORD that I will do all that I can to ensure you aren't massed for it. To the leaders of both sides, let those who do not wish to continue to join a neutral alliance. It may <nani?> you off of course and you may think 'traitor' but remember not everyone plays this game for the same reasons, not everyone has the time to devote, and at the end of the day it is JUST A GAME. So let them go if they wish and after the war accept them back if u wish, but don't mass them.

To those who surrender or leave the war, that's all well and good, but show some honour and don't rebuild and then want back in the war. Do NOT BE DISHONOURABLE scum! Remember people are being kind enough to allow you to rebuild and move on. You insult everyone and ESPECIALLY your own side when you use that to your advantage to re enter the war.

This little pain free moment is now leaving me..so I'd better wrap up. So people, please THINK before you post, disregard these silly affiliations that are temporary at best and be true to who you are. Remember when you make statements like, "I have friends on both sides, but I'm fighting for my alliance", that's all well and good. But think about whether blindly spouting propaganda and such won't change that to, "Oh stuff I've lost a bunch of friends", because truly isn't that what we truly play this game for? The people we meet, not the game itself!

I have been reading many threads in all these forums over time and I find it FASCINATING.

As you can see, I post rarely. However, when I have (even more rarely) offered an opinion, I receive insults- most opinions are insulted in these uncivil times. Please, bear with me as I add a couple thoughts? I have listened carefully to yours.

Oh, before we start, let me do something for those few of you who can't seem to control yourselves so no one needs to be a flamer.

I stipulate that I am a 'noob', 'idiot', 'moron', ect., and I kick puppies! I agree that you can kill my account, myself, my family, and (if I had one) my nanny! I would not dare to say anything to your face or even speak harshly to your cat- who can also kick my behind! (truth be told, your cat terrifys me!) Oh! And I may be drunken spammer, too, and this is in the wrong thread. LOL

There. Now no one else needs to be nasty.


I was puzzled at first by all the venom and gross distortions of the truth and outright contridictions in rationale thought because I don't think most average people in SGW even visit these forums regularly- if at all. So, why so much noise and thunder?

Then it dawned on me. Average players are not the target of the discussion. All of this talk is directed at the admin.s, mods., and leaders of the game not the normal players.

If you read a lot of the forums, it is clear that, in the past, some have been able to influence the actual code settings of the game itself through these forums. (I find it interesting that the most powerful seem to also have been the most successful at this.)

Some seem to need the attention and illusion of control for ego. Actual $s makes this all much more cut throat for some. It may be a major RL asset they have come to depend on. Keeping your power may be vital to your psyche or your RL bank account. Either means that your focus is not on the game/fun/fairness part of things. This means that you must fight for power and influence here- often at any cost. You must influence those who are also powerful. You need those who you feel can change things to your advantage.

Others can be and are ignored or even abused. Many of us don't realize that- at least I didn't. I assumed the game would be fair and not influenced by comments here beyond battle morale. (I am also 'slow'- Saved you! again) I missed the subtelty of the game environment.

Most of us don't want power. Most of us just want a fun and fair game. Most of us see propaganda for what it is. Most of us see hypocracy. Most of us can tell when a person is biased. We are the majority of players. But, the majority of players are not important to the real power behind the game. Those who can control game code, enforce 'rules', and edit/prevent/permit comments, and lead others are the people who need to be influenced.

So, if I need to influence those few in the game, I will force them to become emotionally involved so they lose their perspective. I will tell a story often enough and loudly enough so these key people who read these posts will begin to believe. If they believe, they will take action. If you believe me and not my opponent, your actions will favor me rather than real balnce. This means people will post the SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. And it won't stop because it works.

And that is what this post is about; the restoration of civility, balance, and fairness in the game.

I propose that those who make the code for the game not be the ones playing the game. How can anyone be objective? As much as I respect those who moderate, I have seen even the best 'loose their cool' occasionally. A good umpire needs to be objective. How can they be if they are taking a turn at bat?

These new mods would not play. Those responsible for game code should not be playing the game (for fairness). These new guardians of the game would not post any comments in forum beyond preprepared standard replies. They would simply act.

Some posts are so off color in taste and purpose that general safeguards for content can be written and applied automatically by computer without the possibility of outside influence and bias. For those that need a more personal evaluation, then an outside dispassionate eye may be employed for prompt review.

It used to puzzle me that some comments were permitted while others that clearly were awful were ignored. But, it is clear to any on looker that reads a lot of the forums that some posts are favored. This makes sense because the people responding have their own interests at stake. It is difficult to remain impartial and impossible to avoid the appearance of partiality if you are directly involved.

This new rule would clean things up considerably. Then we all won't be subjected to misguided or occasionally intentionally misintentioned rule changes. The forum would become far more civil while being every bit as robust.

And then we can all go back to playing the game and not live in this land of lobbying and poisoned politics.
