I'm thinking of watching this from the start, never seen it before - would I enjoy it?

I'm 50/50 tbh Greg. It's not exactly an intelligent 'get you thinking' series but it does have some genuinely original hilarious moments and is overall fairly entertaining. You'll certainly enjoy some of the mythology and villains but whether it'l keep someone of your intellectual perspective occupied for 20-22 episodes over the course of seven seasons is a different story.
I'd say give it a try but commit to the first one or two seasons before you make a final judgement as whether to continue with the next five.

Well, it was the mythological aspect which interested me. I went as 'Famine' for Halloween, and someone mentioned to me that he'd been a character on Supernatural. Also, I hear it has Lucifer in, of whom I remain a fan.
Bought the first series today - will spend the weekend on it. Thanks for the feedback, Semper.

I won't dally on this thread for too long, in case I get spoiled, but I just finished with the Second Season finale.
All in all, I like the show. However, I find the overriding story arc a lot more interesting than most of the 'filler' episodes, some of which are tedious. There are only so many 'vengeful spirits' you can stomach until you become one. The season finale episodes, though, and those relating to Sam/family background are what keep me watching. Will watch a few more tomorrow if I get time.

Do not read on if you dont know what we are talking about, you will ruin something

Half through 5. 4 and 5 (so far) have been awesome; really enjoying them. I also love Castiel very much. Going to watch some more tonight after dinner.

he is the best character to ever grace the show

I don't normally laugh out loud at things a lot, but he genuinely makes me crack up. I think it's just his style of delivery. My favourite moment so far was when he was talking on the cell phone to Dean and he's like "This isn't funny, Dean. The voice says I'm almost out of minutes." Now that I've written it down, it doesn't even look that funny, but something about it really tickled me at the time.

[spoiler2=]I'm sure it will be leviathin cas, they'll kill the roman guy and learn he wasn't the be all end all of them. Thats cas. That will give them a window to bring him back

As for them killing off bobby... That was a dumb move. And replacing him with the conspiracy crackpot... even dumber.[/spoiler2]
Agreed there.
@ Mordack. Well Cas is brilliant but personally Azazel and the dad were always my favourite characters even though you barely see the buggers. Castiel and Bobby are brilliant though, as too is Dean. Sam i've always been a bit.. meh towards.

Yeah, that was a pretty funny way of breaking the fourth wall.

They do that a lot in Supernatural.
