How about you make ranks related to groups that each race had. Like you join the sl/goauld group you get the own set of post based titles. That would give our current race mods a job and bring a sense of race pride to the forums

we like the concept, but it would require a mod that the forum lacks...

then maybe hold elections for rank mods??

like semper is a debate mod

i thought he meant "mod" as in "modification" not moderator. as in the forum would need a new modification

yes, it would require the installation of a forum modification... not even sure if a properly functional version of a fitting modification exists... and its hard to get any modification installed at all... Jason's the only capable person...

thats because we've not had time to figure out any new good ones (and havent received any suggestions either)

a few of the recent ones, that we hope to find more of, are related to

{destructive action} of the {stargate object or race or such}

So if you can think up anything fitting that syntax, feel free to write it out, and we'll see which title such can replace...

You've had plenty of suggestions only very few people have questioned.

yet they are in no way neutral... and most of them are not stargate-themed...

we've replaced all of those that had "order of" in them now, as well as many of those less intelligent things... also, among the titles currently in use, there are now no longer any ships or pieces of technology...

remember, the majority of those visiting these forums do not care about the titles... for the active, posting community isnt just made up of a few dozen users... its made up of well over 950 users...
its not very helpful to repeatedly say "they're not good enough" if you cant come up with viable replacements for those titles not good enough...
we wont use any military ranking system because this forum isnt a military dictatorship...
we're also not going back to the old system or any very generic system...

at the moment, the active rank we're least satisfied with is "F302-Pilot", as that it rather too race-specific... for that matter, "Member of the I.O.A." is also rather race-specific... (of course, using various technology, many could theoretically lure themselves into the I.O.A., (or by taking an I.O.A. member as host), but....)

Yes.. but you're making THAT judgement call.. none of us are saying it. You're the admin who's meant to be listening to us on the issue... it's not meant to be solely your decision as to what's there. The military ranks and the other suggested ones havn't been questioned by the users and at the end of the day between you and them.. they're the opinions that matter not yours.

it's not up to you to dictate that the forum isn't going back to a generic or the old system.. that's a completely wrong attitude to take with this. Admins are meant to make some exclusive decisions.. but this isn't one of them when so many people are not liking the available titles.

Any suggestion is 'viable' so long as it get's the right popularity. It isn't a military dictatorship.. yet you're judging what's viable off your opinions a lone near enough and that's exactly what a dictatorship is.

we're the one actually doing the work here... its not as simple as opening a single page and pasting a long list... each title has to be configured one by one...

and we've asked around a bit, and quite a few find the new titles quite good... (in fact, if you read many of the early posts in this thread, lots of people liked the title "death glider"...)

yes, we've made the judgement call to have it stargate themed, and we made sure to have list reviewed by the other admins first... now we're slowly improving that list, simply because we actually care about the opinions of the users...

to be nice, we'll post in a bit over half the list, the part that one user managed to find from looking around in the members pages... they're not in any particular order (we think)
