The Targaryen are the rightful rulers of the Iron Thrown! Daenerys will sweep away all opposition when she is ready to make her move.

Interesting.
My house would probably be the Stark's. Noble, and honorable.
This episode didn't truly impress me, however it was absolutely amazing. The main reason it did not impress me was because it felt like a continuation of the first season's ending rather than a beginning to the first season.
It didn't have that "awe" to it.

Enjoyed the first ep thoroughly.
I get what you mean about the transition being almost too smooth between series, but i have to admit i find it infinitely more annoying if the plots between series are connected by vague references and retrospect tales. Considering how little was resolved at the end of Series one it made sense in a way for it to start the way it did.
Edit
Just to add to this, i actually like it the more i think about, there's ALOT going on in the fictional land, the episode being fairly chaotic yet linking all that chaos together reflected well on the fact that Kingslanding is the focal point of the entire populous in amongst everyone wanting a piece of the Iron throne. I thought using the comet as the focal point was a brilliant idea.

I want the next episode! But to echo others, it does seem like there are quite a few narratives spread over large geographical areas. Still everything gets ample time to develop and I'm sure some stories will weave together? I haven't read the books.. so I can't say for sure.
dire wolf ftw.

This. The Wolf was the best part of that episode.
I cannot wait to see it full grown.

I intended to save this up and watch them back to back when I got the whole series........... my will power failed me and I watched episodes 1 & 2 last night lol
Great suff, I love this series. But I would agree the first 2 episodes are a bit of a warm up, a little bit of each of the stories and characters to show you where they all are & start the build up, I imagine the episodes to follow will as in the first series will concentrate more on 1 or 2 stories a week.

I don't personally understand the expectation of fans that the second season was supposed to be some kind of epic thing. It's a continuation of the story from season one. Though I do suppose there could be more war scenes since people are actually fighting, but I'm sure the blood and gore will come soon enough.
I agree, the dire wolf was pretty damn awesome. I also really like how they did Bran's dream. Lots of good stuff to come this season! I can't wait! Though, at this point, I do think I will simply wait for episode 2 to air on Sunday...maybe.
