Let me make one thing perfectly clear to you Juliette, I am not and will never be your "sweat-heart."

Please do not insult me by calling me that.

Going back to what Mordack said, I must ask noobert this:
How can you expect the community to trust the mods if the mods don't trust the community?

On a different note, look at who has posted in this thread. Just from the first page, the people there are accountable for close to 10% of all of the posts on this forum. And just about all of them have been here for atleast three years.
Look at the mod team, ALL of them except one have been here 3+ years. I can see why Turkey thinks they're biased.
What is that saying?

Over the years, you would have build up friendships and enemies.
This entire community is closed off to the 'outside world'. You go through the forums, I doubt you'll find much people you've never heard of.

I would never call you "sweat-heart". Have no idea regarding your cardio routines or your transpiration. :-)

CABAL wrote:How can you expect the community to trust the mods if the mods don't trust the community?
We are all subject to human nature, and human nature is distrusting. We are trying to get rid of elitist thoughts and behaviour, and return to our origins as regular users; obviously, such change does not happen overnight, nor without pain.
CABAL wrote:What is that saying?
That those who have been here longest, posted most? How incredibly irrelevant to the case.
CABAL wrote:This entire community is closed off to the 'outside world'. You go through the forums, I doubt you'll find much people you've never heard of.
Mmhm. Now I see your point; the lack of influx of newbies is to blame on the already existing bonds?
It is the bonds and friendships of today that are relevant. Friendships of the past are of little consequence. The current situation may derive from a troubled past, and it may fester under a troubled present, but a bright future awaits us all.

Ah that's this kind of positive expectations of the future that this community lack, and that is good to be heard when it's said! :P It's always "we are dieing community", "forums/game are dieing". I mean first time I heard it, it was probably back in late 2007. :P

Really? Although I do agree people do change people are people of habit !! That is why we look at ones past to see what they might do in the future. It is proven , and you have that one in the rough that surprises you.
Would you let a murder babysit your kids? Would you let a child rapist become a teacher? Because in the back of your mind you think they will do it again. They might not but it could happen your judged for you past nothing more.
I know who Juliette is and what she has done, I have let it go because people do change , but trust me I'm sure she is being watched.

Why is it any concern of the public why a member of the Staff was fired? If you want to know then ask the person who was fired, don't get mad at the Admins...

No, it is a concern. It's a concern because the users are what make this community, this forum, and as such they deserve to know how it's governed. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. When I was an admin, albeit briefly, I tried to make this the norm, but I guess I failed.

Its a major concern. My experience as a mod was less than satisfying and left a very bad taste in my mouth for the politics and inner cliques that run things. Ask me why I was "fired" ... In game politics brought to forum , forum politics brought to game , I could go on and on like the never ending war i find myself in ;)

There are alot of good quotes and comments in this thread that make valid points , but im afraid they fall on deaf ears as this is just another opinion topic that admin and mods will ignore and deem invalid. Leaving the community to feel as we do , loosing interest and trust as nothing changes even when asked our opinion ... Its a vicious circle.

As does happen with every mod who tries to improve the forum unfortunately :(

No. If you read for example the thread started by Roket about suggesting the elections of a % of mods you will see the staff don't "ignore it".
If people keep thinking this way, obviously, it will remain this way...

You don't find many people you haven't heard of because so few people join the game. If someone wants to be a part of this community I find it to be very welcoming. When someone posts in the "New to Forum" sub-section, they are happily greeted by many people.

1. I believe you were "fired" for being quite inactive, if I do remember. I could be very wrong though.

2. They fall on deaf ears? Admins/Mods ignoring? I've been posting here regularly and telling people to please help us if they think we are doing something wrong. All people want to do is blame the Mods/Admins to no end, but not actually help us if they really see a problem. If you want something to change you have to make it change.

Yes, quite a good exampe. RoKeT had an idea, he posted it in the right place. It is now becoming more than an idea, and the Admins/Mods are listening quite well actually. It's being nothing close to ignored.

True, I have yet to find proves of current situation(s) where newcomers were massed and bullied ingame/forums like some people pretend it happens nowadays. Indeed, in past, it happened, no doubt about it. But now, I have yet to see that, all I see is welcoming posts and many different creative offers to help them grow and enjoy the game.

That's what I noticed and thus felt the need to mention it here, as I didn't see at all the same in practice as some people said (the "non caring mods").

To be fair... my running mate for ombudsman is someone I've never heard of before, so trusting someone new isn't exactly easy, but also has a "risk/reward" type of relationship. I believe he will grow to be a great ombudsman, and maybe even moderator. But I do not know him well enough to be sure. I am taking a chance.

Sometimes that is what is required.

3 suggestions that would limit the damage any one mod or admin can inflict.

1, 1 year time limit for moderator and administrative office. 1 year Subsequent office subject to peer review.

2, No Admin shall dually hold leadership office in an empire coalition or alliance in game.

ie , removing the or limiting the chances of abuse of power.

Furthermore I would like to add that Mods changing names as much as you all do is very frustrating and confusing for even long term members ( nice elusive tactic ) but give it a rest. You would be far more approachable and effective with a hint of continuity.

Why should the time one can be a Staff Member be limited? If you are good, stay as long as you can. If not, you are removed.

Your idea to apparently limit bias is unnecessary. You cannot show that any Mod still on the team uses their power to benefit their allies ingame, and hurt their enemies ingame. The ingame position of a user is of absolutely no concern to the Staff.

Your attitude is really not helpful, by the way. "Nice elusive tactic." Thanks, what exactly are we eluding? It would take approximately 30 seconds to deduce who a Moderator is if you took the time to check. I guess it's easier to just complain about it though. You don't need to know their names anyways, if you have a complaint it should only be based on their action and on nothing else.

Further with the name changes, there was a complaint earlier with multiple examples given of why it should be no problem for any user, yet none or hardly any examples of why it could be bad were said.

+1

Good post Kill.

Yes becaues a Molester, Killer, Rapist is the same as a forum Mod who has made mistakes???

Kill I disagree completly you pick the hardest thing you can and compare it to a mod are you kidding me???

it's more like...

An alcoholic who had a drunk driving accident, Got clean and realized the errors of his ways... Should he not be allowed a licene ever?

or what about a common Theif who steals as a teenager to be "cool" gets caught and arrested should he not be allowed in stores?

Mistakes happen, there are extremes then there are petty things... Don't be ridiculous... Your smarter then that!

and if thats the case have you ever had a warning? because if so your ass should deffinatly not be allowed on this forum because god knows you made a mistake
