I don't want to see neither Germany, Brazil or Argentina win.
Why? Because aside from Italy, those above are the ones winning it most often, and there is a need of different winners.

So who's your favourite then? Uruguay?... they've won 2 times '30s and '42s editions.

No.
They both face each others this evening.

So, which ones do you think that will win? Spain or Portugal?...

Spain and Netherlands are two great footballing nations yet to lift the trophy and fully deserving of it.

Depends on effectiveness of CR (solo or collective play?), how Torres will play (and score?), Casillas' and Eduardo's success at savings, Spain's defense fixing...
Villa is likely to be here to show his level like usually, so it will depend on the above parameters.
Yes I don't give a proper answer, but Spain's victory stats wise is likely, but stats aren't always right...

Clubs are seeded to start, so you never see two real heavy weights in one group and the knock out stages are pre-defined. Why can't they be drawn randomly? Or is Fat Sepp Blatter scared of of randomly drawing heavyweight vs heavyweight matches, seeing one leave too soon for him. Oh what a travesty if a country like for example Ghana were to feature in the final huh because they got the luck of the draw? ...

Happens all the time in domestic tournaments, and it's good. It's the beauty of the draw.
How many nations enter the qualification process? Is it something like 192? Why don't they just play it all in a knock out like the FA Cup. Dumb as

If you have nothing positive to say GTHO!!
There goes your stupid mouth again. Who said this thread has to be positive comments? DD made a comment regarding the World Cup group stage selection process etc. This thread is about the world cup, not about flowers and fairies. So why don't you GTHO.
I would SO laugh if Ghana beat Brazil. i wouldn't say it would NEVER happen, as anything can happen in football by mistake because referees and blindsman are dumb **Filtered**.
I'm looking forward to the Portugal v Spain match. Hopefully Portugal knock Spain out in the 90 minutes, and then Portugal get knocked out in the Quarters!

Quick poll:
Is Ronaldo a waste of money?
ie. way over paid?

You're either trying to be funny (and failing by at the very least not putting an emote) or you're the biggest idiot here who has seemingly failed to read/understand my post before posting a stupid comment. The points I raised are perfectly valid for the topic and particularly interesting to debate; unlike a lot of the rubbish on this thread.
Try the preview button before you post in future, you might save yourself from coming across as an utter ass.
(Just read your post too Clarkey, appreciate the comment).

Ronaldo is a scoring monster in clubs (Manchester United then Real Madrid), but not when he plays for national team.
However, this present match lives by my expectations.

you can see that he is really desperate to score though, going solo most of the time, not much of a team player when it comes to matches for the national team
I mean everyone wants to score but in the end you all work for one goal and that`s to win the match, now it`s not really a good time to be selfish

He wished he was as succesful as Villa is for Spain on national team scoring.

(Which explains why after several hours of thinking, -yes!- I prefered to pick Villa over Ronaldo in the 11 playing for today in my ff team

)

All footballers are WAY over paid. i'd kick a ball round if i was going to get that sort of pay packet.
