Think about it

the french are the only reason america won independence, they gave you money, weapons and real soldiers as opposed to americans farmers.
canada was british land and is still part of the commonwealth, so tbh britain are still superior.

There were other reasons too..the British were more bothered with the Jewel in the Crown, India..and all it's wealth. For all intents and purposes the British military in the American colonies was second rate. The British Empire was too big to defend every bit of it adequately, and the assumption that because the colonists were white and such, they dropped the ball..There's a saying that there are times you treat your own much worse than you'd treat a stranger, relying on familiarity and common ties to tide things over..and this came to haunt the British government
