It sucks, absolutely. Yes, if we could anticipate downtime (which we cannot, not on this scale anyway) you would get advance warning.
As a potential solution for people who wanted to go on vac this weekend, you can try emailing admin about putting your account on vacation, but no guarantees.

Whilst we do appreciate the work that the admin(s) are putting in to getting the game back to 100% and very grateful, but it would be nice if we had some kind of progress or update perhaps even an ETA?

It will easily be a week.
Solving the problem and root cause was -indeed- very easy, admin did that within an hour. Dealing with the consequences to backup, accounts and missing contextual data is not, hence downtime.
Downtime would be the case even if this was a regular problem. So yes, it is going to be a ~week.
As for the resources you would have gotten had the game been active, no. You do not get those. No one gets them, so everyone is equally affected. This is not the time to ask for compensation, because I will refer you to the terms of service, and then we nag at each other for a while until you realise that this is simply the way it is..
It sucks as much for us as it sucks for you guys. We all would like the game back yesterday, but that is not going to happen. If you want to get your fix, feel free to sign up for Quantum, NewGrounds, Origins or Dev, where you can enjoy a similar, but different experience from Main.
You will all be informed through the forum and the game's homepage when the game is back online, and all accounts will have ~48 hours of PPT. As said, that will be a ~week, could be more, could be (a little) less.
