Which is utterly ridiculous.

Just because someone doesn't vote, does not mean they don't have the right to have and voice an opinion.

The idea is that if you don't vote, and use your right to speak out through your vote... then you have no right to complain when things go south.... because that person should have voted to begin with.

How can someone complain about a decision when they choose to not participate in the decision making process itself?

...While I haven't polled the Canadian people, I feel that the majority of Canadians want or support Barack Obama....

And what if the complaint is that when voting your voice goes unheard? As I've pointed out a great many times, unless you're voting for one of the two "primary candidates" in a "swing state" your vote is quite worthless. For those that believe voting is a waist of time and that the election is rigged, voting would be like them screaming to the top of their longs in space. No one will ever hear them, and their opinion will be lost in the void.

If you are voting for someone who isn't in the big two parties, then I can see how it would seem like a vote doesn't count... but every vote does count. If the complaint is that when you are voting you voice is unheard then that simply isn't true. You vote counted and was registered and was therefore heard.

If the qualm is that one voice is drowned in a sea of others then there is more that a person can do to be heard and to get a message out than to vote. There are many, many other ways to show support and help your candidate. For example, soliciting people door to door, handing out flyers, etc.

Jack, you've pointed to the idea that "unless you're voting for one of the two "primary candidates" in a "swing state" your vote is quite worthless", but you haven't proven it. It may seem like a drop in the bucket, but it isn't.

Using Canada as an example this past month the Green Party was told they could not be a part of the leaders debate because they did not hold any seats in parliament (1). After further debate and protest this changed (2). Even though the Green's didn't gain a single seat at the Federal level (3) those single, and seemingly small voices, made great changes.

For those that believe voting is a waist of time, they have just to look at the above example with the Greens. Small numbers of people can make change.

But, bringing this back down to earth, and looking at the past 3 posts. Once that person has voted for the big two or another, the idea is that they can complain, because they voted... even if it is to complain that their voice isn't being heard.

and to be on topic I just dont see why Obama is getting all this love except that in scary and dire time one would look for change but Obamas change is very radical be sure of that and I for one am not willing to elect him into office to then find out what that his policies are not representative of the American people. If he gets elected its out of fear. I for one am more fearful of what he will do once elected. Now im not saying McCain is the way to go but I certainly don't and wont support Obama.

Before I get to the point of what I wanted to say I need to mention that Liberal in Canada is not the same Liberal in the US. I spent a summer in Georgia with an orthopedic surgeon and we talked politics. I told him that I was a liberal or NDP supporter and he was surprised. Throughout the discussion he described the US Liberal, and I described the Canada Liberal.

They are two totally different animals. Not ever comparable. Of the 22 Prime Ministers in Canadian history 15 (or 12 depending on how you count it... from 1867-1920 the classification is a little strange) were Liberal, and we are doing fine.

In remembering how Liberals were described in Georgia it doesn't seem to me that Obama is a Liberal. He is not as conservative as McCain, but he's not US Liberal (as how the term was described to me a few years ago).

It's not only me who want Obama in office. As I posted the link above, the majority of Canadians want him in there as well, even though we (as Canadians) would probably be better off with McCain as President (1).

well am i red in the face !!!! see, i miss read the news banner all this time , and i thought it was a vote for who would get an erection, and not an election, So i am going to have to rethink my vote. I was for McCain, seeing he had a good looking wife and a hot running mate. I thought with odds like that, he was a sure win vs obama's hot wife and some dude i use to see in the disco halls hitting on young girls. But if this is, as i said , an election and not erection, well, now i am going to have to re decide.

Canadians! (well, one anyways) made me laugh so hard on sunday when i crossed the border and hit the mall. some lady in coles (a book store) was talking to a clerk about how they had McCain books in, or about him, i don't remember what. the lady said good, Obama is a **Filtered** Terrorist (the word started with F). I just grinned and tried not to laugh, it was a lady about 50 yrs old too.

Ignorance, ignorance when you are here...people who have no clue and make themselves look stupid..will always exist.
